update on me

I called the insurance girl (leslie) at Missouri Bariatric Svcs. She told me since I got the letter that said it "wasn't a denial of benefits" but really is, they are through. They don't go any further. They don't help with the appeal or grievance review with the insurance. The only thing she told me was to go to www.obesitylaw.com and see if they would help. I did actually fill out a form there and I am waiting to hear from that. If the cost is too much I won't be able to do it anyway. So........I am depressed and kind of giving up hope. I wish everyone well with their weight lost and surgeries. Jan, good luck I know you are next. Sheila

dont give up girl. sit down and write a letter to them yourself. call the insurance company yourself and see what they want from you if they will cover the surgery. See if you can get your doctor to write a really convincing letter to them . i dont know what the obesity law site cost but it would almost be worth it . Dont give up hope . God has something else planned for you. or another way, Stay in his will and pray he will show you the way. Thanks for the good wishes Sheila i will be praying for you Jan

Sheila, Don't let them win. Call your insurance and find out exactly why they denied it. They have to tell you specifically. Then get to work on doing whatever is necessary. If the surgery center won't help you fight, perhaps your primary physician will. Or, maybe you need a new surgery center!!! Anyway, don't give up without a fight. About the law center - I believe that Walter Lindstrom charges $500 to fight with your insurance but I'm not positive. But, first you should do everything possible to get the approval yourself. You may not be a fighter but this is the time to get those boxing gloves on. As obese people we have let ourselves be run over and stepped on for a long time. We have learned to just roll over and let people pick on us and to never fight back or make a scene. Don't let that happen to you again. Get on your feet and fight!!! Lana

Sheila, What Jan & Lana told you is true. A lot of people get turned down at first but you can appeal that decision. You may have to make a pest of yourself but find out what they want from you. And if you can't change their mind then you can contact the obesity lawyer. Don't give up, your life is worth fighting for! Marilyn

Sheila DO NOT GIVE UP.....Your answer is in JESUS.....He will help you with this....Iam a firm believer that Jesus helped me and others get our surgeries.......He can help you as well......Get on the phone and bug the insurance companies.....There are ways to have this surgery.. Dont be depressed .. GIVE IT ALL TO JESUS.....Rebuke Satan and get back to work...Fight it SheilaJ I know if I can do it anyone can.....Its a tough road to follow but it can be done...Dont give up ..
