Well Saturday again? Guess so that usually comes after Friday. Lol I have been asked several times about this soup recipe that Lana and I keep talking about so I will type it out once more. Butternut Squash Soup Dice one onion and saute in skillet till transparent, add peeled and diced butternut squash with 2 tsp of curry powder and a healthy dash of dried red pepper flakes. Can add more of both of these as your taste dictates. Also salt and pepper to taste. After this has all cooked and blended together. Put in pot with one can (13oz) of coconut milk 1pint of half and half 1pint of reg milk. Heat and simmer can add 1 pound of cut up cooked shrimp for an extra taste. This is excellent and seems to get better daily . Lana said that as a new post op when you get to eating purreed foods it might be an excellent soup if you use the low fat half and half and skim milk and then puree the squash. Well if you all read my post yesterday I still have the UTI and am back on antibiotics for another 7 days will finish them up on the 11th my pcp said for me to come in on that day and run another ua. To see if it is gone. That is only 3 days before my surgery is scheduled. God only knows why this is happening. Maybe is Gods way of keeping me on the pre op diet ...I prayed that he would intervene and help me stay on it. LOL I cant eat much because I am drinking so much water that I stay full. Lol Linda: im not really nervous about the surgery. I am a little nervous about after the surgery. Ive had enough surgeries in my life that im not scared just wondering how I will fit all the things in that we have to do afterwards. All the water, pills, sip sip walk walk, get down your protein. Have 3 meals a day 5 hours apart and don't drink with meal but can have lots of water up to certain times lol I think I will make up a poster board for awhile so I can get it down. Lol Check it off every day as I do it. Debbie : that is ok we can be twins as long as I don't have to be the evil twin lol. Yeah I get teased a lot about being short. You know when I was younger and thin I never got teased about being short I think being short and fat makes you look even shorter . Hopefully after you have the surgery your blood sugars will stabilize and no long will you need meds for that. Barbara: I bet you were surprised to see your son . Does he look really good since his surgery? Do you really realize that it is only 2 more days? Oh my gosh. Wow. Are you excited or calm? Pam: im glad your surgery is over now and you can start thinking about getting pregnate now. Another baby huh? That seems like eons ago when I was thinking that. Lol Guess it almost was. Craig: Yes my pre ops is Monday the 7th the same day as when Barbara has her surgery. I will check on her after I get done with pre ops. Im doing ok on my diet since I have this infection and taking Cipro and drinking lots and lots of water. When I think about eating I just drink another glass of water. Lol Lana: I bet you are glad that your hubby is home now arent you? If you are like me I don't mind being by myself for a certain amount of time but after awhile I really get to missing him and just the smell and feel of him in the house. Did all of his flowers survive you caring for them.? So many of mine are really looking bad but there isn't much I can do about it . When you have an acre of flowers it is sort of hard in this sort of weather. Are you feeling any better now? Hope that goes away quick. Stomach flu isn't any fun. Rachael: how are you feeling? Have you started your b-12 shots yet? Is it helping. If it was what was causing the pain you were in then you should have noticed a difference right away. I have been wondering about you. Pixielf: Where are you? How is the joy coming along? Is it any better or has it gotten worse? Altho I cant imagine it getting worse. Wayne: Hope everything is ok. I want to thank everyone for your prayers for me and this infection. Please continue to pray for me . I have to go for pre-ops Monday and I guess I will have to tell them about the infection . Sure do hate too. I just have a feeling that they are going to cancel my surgery. But maybe not if it is gone then they shouldn't. Colette what do you think? I am writing this and it is 1:20 am . I went to bed at 9pm and was back up at 1am all stiff and sore so had to get up and move around so by then I am wide awake and have to play on the computer to get sleepy again. Is a cycle that I go thru at least once a night. I sure hope that once I have surgery that changes some LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS JAN

My PCP just today called in my B12 stuff so I can start my own injections...My DH gave me my first injection...Still on the pain medication but only can take it at night...It has been a busy week at work this past week and I have been in quite a bit of pain....I am so hoping that this B12 does what it is suppose to....the reason I can respond to this at this time is because the pain is terrible...I have taken my medication and it is starting to work so I think I will be off to bed.... God bless and you are in my continued prayers.... Rachael

Hi all -- I'm finally starting to feel human again after bout with strep and sinus infection -- it was a loooong week . Yesterday I got the actual letter from insurance company approving surgery. I'd received oral approval earlier but feel much better now that I have written proof that they said yes! One glitch was that they approved Dr. Scott as out of network. I called insurance company to question that, as I'd checked before and he was PPO. Turns out the insurance company had made error -- yeah! Revised approval letter to come. With that, I now have completed all pre-op requirements and am just waiting for a date. From looking at boards, sounds like nearly everyone has been sick with something. Hope everyone is feeling better -- Jan, the UTI is going to be gone on the 11th, that's all there is to it! Oh, and in looking at RNY board earlier, one item that everyone declared you have to take to the hospital is chapstick/lip balm, since you are so dehydrated. Can't remember if that was on your packing list, Jan, but if not you may want to add it. Have a good Saturday and try to stay cool!

I have a lot of packing to do today. We're leaving early Monday morning for Iowa (Knoxville Nationals...sprint car races), but it's not as simple as packing some luggage and taking off for the hotel. We'll be staying at a campground next to the racetrack, and I have an entire camper to get packed up. PCP put me on Wellbutrin. Apparently when you don't sleep at night for months on end, it's not a good thing. Hopefully this medicine will help calm my nerves and prompt weight loss (which is the expected outcome). We'll see. Have a great day! Pamela

Pam: I have never slept well, as a baby my mom said I would frighten easily, and be up all night.... Now, I am 38, and I hate that I can't sleep. I will be up for 2-3 days, and in the end I am so "strung out" and nervous, from exhaustion, that I end up freaking everyone around me out. It makes me snappy and edgy, and start worrying, I hate it. Then I crash and burn for 24-36 hours....and start the vicious circle all again... I hate it. I was on Halcion as a teenager, and then they banned it in 1990, supposedly causes scitzophenia... GREAT S

Hey Jan and Everyone!! Well good morning everyone thought I'd get this post in early today because I don't know what all the kids have planned for me. It is nice to have everyone at home at the same time. Do you all remember a song by the Pointer Sisters call "I'm So Excited" well that is the way I feel, but I'm trying to stay calm I keep checking my bag to make sure I have everything I may need. I start my liquid diet tomorrow I'm going to get 4 cases of water today so I'll have enough for after surgery and since my DH can't lift anything heavy with this hernia thingl, and since we have all these He-Men around this weekend I'm gonna put them to work. LOL Jan: I want you to know and be encouraged we all know how you feel about being so close to your surgery date and now having this infection happen so close to it, but we all are praying for you and God is going to clear the infection up and you will still make your surgery day . I know this is just another hurdle to thrown in the way by the but he can't win there is too much praying power on this board. So sweetie relax, stay calm, keep doing what you're doing with the meds and water thing and I'll see you after your Pre-ops on Monday if I'm not . Keeping you before the Lord in prayer. Everyone have a great day, I'm leaving for Sedalia after I come from church tomorrow and I don't know if I'll have time to post so I'll post as soon as I can after I get home from the hospital . God Bless you all, Barb T. in KC
