Hello, I just wanted to say hi. I am doing research as my doctor has already sent a referal for me and I want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into. I hope you all will be an inspiration to me as I would love to be able to walk and breath at the same time and enjoy my boys before they get much older. Please feel free to give any advice you feel may help me with my decisions. Thank You

Hi Missy, welcome to the Missouri board. Everyone here is really great. These are the nicest people you'll ever meet online. I am having surgery on Aug. 10. I just got home from my pre-ops. To me this is going to be the greatest thing I've ever done for myself. I'm tired of being the butt of jokes and having to buy my clothes in the big people's stores and not being able to do anything with my grandson. I want to live and this is the only way I'm going to get my weight down so I can. There are risks to the surgery, but there are risks in not having the surgery, too. It's a choice you have to make by yourself. But, we'll all be happy to answer any questions you might have. We can't give you medical advice, but we can tell you what has happened to you and then refer you to your doctor. Again, welcome to the board and come on anytime. God's blessings to you...Linda

Hi Missy welcome to the Missouri board. I think you will find we are quite a family here and love to have new additions to the family. My surgery is August 14th and am getting really excited about it. I chose to do this because i feel like it is my last chance. Im 65 and know that if i dont get this weight off i might not be here much longer and i want to be around for a while longer. I know there are risks but at my age the risk i am taking with being overweight and high blood pressure , etc what i will be facing shortly. Any medical advice is just that advice . What does your pcp say about the surgery for you. Mine was all for it and said that she thought it would be the very best thing in the world for me. Hope you come back to the boards a lot. Jan
