How do you say Missouri???

Hi Thought I'd add my two cent I am born and raised in Kansas City, Missouree at least that's the way I've always heard it said but when I went to Michigan they told me that I was from Missourah, go figure Barb t. in KC

Lana, For myself and family and everyone around where I live which is SEMO we say MIssourieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I was raised at Farmington MO. and always heard Missourieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I worked with 2 ladies at Poplar Bluff, MO. that always said Missourah, they were both from Ellisnore MO. which is about 30 miles west of Poplar Bluff. Brenda

Hi Lana, I am from the central part of Missoureeeeeeeee. That's what we've always called it. However, my husband is from the Boonville area and he says Missourah. I always thought it was Missoureeeeeeeeeeee because when you say Mississippi you say Mississippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee; the same goes for Hawaeeeeeeeeeee. I think the "ah" came from people back east--New York, Maine, New Hampshire. They all use the "ah" sound on a lot of their words. Of course, people from Maine also put an "r" on the end of words ending in "a". For example, we have an idea, they have an ider. LOL That's just my 2 cents worth for today. Lana, I was born in SE Missourieee And raised in St. Louis, Missourieee. The only people I have noticed saying Missourah are politicians. Maybe they think it sounds more educated or "southern" or whatever. Marilyn
