I GOT A QUESTION!!!

Ok here is the deal...Its embarassing but I have to ask......Sunday I have to take a whole bottle of laxative......OK after midnight I cant have nothing else to put in my mouth.......Do I wait until after 7pm when im doing eating for the day to take it? ...Because if i take it in the morning and still eat that will beat the purpose wont it?.........I thought if I take it at 7pm Sunday night I will be all cleaned then.....Then im leaving at 1am so I dont want to have to stop for SUDDEN potty breaks every so many miles lol.......HELP IM STUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............................Craig Lee While this was loading up.. I thought maybe I could just do liquids on Sunday and then I could take the laxative during the day......just not drink after Midnight..The nurse said I could take 2 meds though before i come but with half oz of water......THATS IT NO MORE.......hehehehehe....I know Im a Nurse but Im drawing a blank this week for some reason...Wonder what it is?

Sunday you will be on CleAR liquids only, no red food coloring in anything. only clear liquids ...nothing else and stop at midnight. take the lax when ever it sas to take it. you will be cleaned out believe me. since you are leaving at 11pm i might take the lax a couple of hours earlier. but clear liquids only and no i cant imagine why you would be confused. lol its ok buddy it will all be ok Jan

I just popped my head in to see what all has been going on while I am been away and realized that I may not be done with my grandkid's visit before you leave for Sedalia. Craig Jan is right you should be on clear liquids so you won't be eating anything. And if I remember right mine said to take at 2 or 3pm the day before surgery. And it worked very very well. The thing I had a hard time with was drinking it all. The taste was really bad even with the flavoring added. Maybe I picked the wrong flavor. LOL But Craig I will tell you it was still trying to work the next morning and if you have to cough or sneeze you may want to go to the bathroom to do it. I hate to say this but I coughed while waiting to get taken back to be prepped for surgery and I sent my pants home with my DD to wash. LOL I can't believe I just admitted to that even. Check your prescription and see if it doesn't tell you what time to take it. And it won't hurt to drink after you take it, it will just cause you to make a few more trips to the bathroom. LOL And I really think if you wait till 7 pm to take it you will be making a lot of stops for potty breaks and you may want to get some depends even. LOL Well I hope this helps. To me taking that stuff was the worse part of the whole thing. Oh and Craig what is your last name? I need to know so I can find out what room your in so I can come see you. Craig, The instructions I was given says to take it at 2pm, it said that way I should be cleaned out before going to bed. I found these instructions on the sheet that tells you to have clear liquids the day before surgery. Hope this helps. Brenda

Craig, Yes you should only be on clear liquids on Sunday. And yes, please start drinking the prep at 2:00 p.m. It is sorta salty and just drink as much as you can and stop a few minutes and drink more. Sky is right, none of the flavors help a bit. Before you are through drinking it you will be sitting on the commode. I even got the chills from it really bad but just keep thinking I have to do this!!! I think it amounts to about 5 tall glasses of the mixture. Towards the end, I drank the mixture and chased it with some diet coke. that helped me get it all down. Craig, I have a friend who's a nurse and she recommended that I start my clear liquids 2 days before surgery to make certain everything is out of the colon. She said that by doing that I wouldn't have diarrhea nearly as bad from the mag citrate. She also told me a little secret to get it all down. She said put it in the refrig and get it real cold and then use a straw to drink it. Put the straw as far back in your mouth as you can stand it so it doesn't go past too many tastebuds and drink fast. The notebook does say to take it at 2 or 3 pm. You can still have clear liquids until midnight. You can also brush your teeth the next morning, but just be sure not to swallow. Good luck with your surgery Monday. Craig, I would suggest you start it around 200p.m. especially if you are traveling that night to Sedalia. It takes a good 6 hours to clear you out. At least that was my experience.
