Insurance Question

I have a friend who works for a residential home.Her insurance is throught Benefit Management.I think thats the one.Anyway it's with Freeman Hospital insurance group.Does anyone know if it will pay for the RNY or Lap- Band?And if they do which Doctor's take it.Thanks alot.

Carol... The best thing to do is to find out exactly WHO the insurance policy is with. It might be managed by a benefit company but that is not who the policy is under. For example MY insurance policy is under Healthlink but it is managed and all paperwork/claims/submissions are done through a risk management group. She needs to find out WHO the company is and then she needs to call the number for them and ask to see if there are exclusions for any/ALL treatment including surgical intervention for the treatment of not only obesity BUT morbid obesity. I would also see if there are exclusions that can be cleared IF medical necessity is proven. She could also call around to some of the drs. that operate in the Missouri area to see if they have ever had anyone that has that policy that has had services covered. It is worth a shot.... Also have her look at her client booklet that should of been given to her when she received her insurance packet from work. That booklet should have exclusions listed in it..... Best of luck... She may also want to check with her Human Resc. dept. They could help her with finding out some of that information to get a # to call.
