Good Day to you Jan: Yes I have had all the pre op tests and evaluations done, when I went to my 1st group meeting which is required by my dr. to attend at least 2 of them, is when I found out that Medicare no longer covered the Rou N Y surgery unless the hospital was a place of excellence. So the hospital is getting all their ducks in a row so they can get appeeze medicare. It's just been very discouraging for me i suppose like it has everyone else, to get worked up and ready only to be let down. I have been trying to have this proceedure done for a few years now. The doctor I had up till last year absolutely refused to discuss it with me because I am on blood thinners due to pulminary embelisims i had after a hysterectomy I had to have is 2003. Then I ended up in the hosp. last year 5 times from celulitus that didn't want to leave me alone. I absolutely fell in love with the doctor that took care of me with that. I ended up with her due to my recent move and going to the nearest hosp. So she took me and my medicare insurance on. We discussed my weight and she mentioned wls surgery to me. I almost fell out of my chair. When she told me she thought I was a perfect candicate due to all my illiness and weight not to mention. Anyway she suggested I go to Barnes Jewish Hospital the rest is history. I am very comfortable with the staff there and the Dr. that will be doing the surgery. Just waiting for Medicare to do their thing. Thanks for letting me vent Jan. It is so nice this sight. I do love it. I read so many peoples stories and realize I am nor have I ever been alone. Just lonely. Although I have a wonderful man who is beside me. Enough for now. Hope your day is great. God Bless you Tressia

Yes I have known Dena a long time, she is a wonderful lady, and a very talented pianist too No, Dena didn't have any advise, just told me that if WLS is excluded than there is nothing they can do, of course I know that, but it is strange that now we have been told twice it isn't excluded and she was told once that it is. Dena said we can go ahead with the appointment and send it in. I will call the insurance one more time tomorrow when they are open so I'm not wasting my time if I get another no. Meanwhile I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. But just in case I can do this I quit smoking. I stopped last Friday, and am realllllly craving it today. Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday!!! Mine was fine, I'm going to be really tired tomorrow, I scheduled my day too heavy and will probably be regretting it by about noon. I could have scheduled even heavier as people kept calling all day long wanting to get their dogs groomed tomorrow, and wouldn't let me put them on the books for Friday which is my next available. Some people just have no patience! They must think I wanna work 24 hours per day lol.

Hey Everyone, I can see I'm bringing up the rear as usual, although this is early for me to post. I have been having trouble with my computer, you know you buy them, update them, and still it aint long till they are prehistoric. Oh well we do what we can. I guess I'm lucky to have this one. Boy I tell you what this board is getting hot. When I first starting posting on here was just back in April and there wasn't very many on here then, but now- wow! The meeting you all went to last night, was that in Springfield or Sedalia? My DH said maybe sometime after I have my surgery we could book a hotel romm and come to one of the meetings there so I could meet everyone! That will be great. Until then I am going to try to make it to the Cape meetings. Hey Jan thanks for the care package, when I opened it I could smell the chocolate, umm, umm. I haven't tried it yet but if it tastes like it smells it has got to be gooooooooood. The next time you or Melissa or anyone else go to that Food 4 Save store, that's probably not the right name, but could you ask them if they have a website or does anyone know a website where I can get the ON whey protein drinks in all the different flavors? I have been to several websites that have it but only in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, I want all those good exiotic sounding flavors! I picked up a protein powder mix at wal*mart it's called Body Fortress 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder, it has 23g of protein ,carbohydrate 2g, calories 110, total fat 1.5g, sugars 1g. It cost 19.99 for 2lbs (30 servings). Is it comparable to the ON Whey? Linda I finally got a medical alert bracelet ordered. I did the same as you I ordered a man's size. I should get it this week. I'm like all the rest of you, worried it's all a dream and in the dream after my surgery I don't lose weight, I gain it!!!! To be serious I do covet all your prayers for me to be able to use this blessing for my health not to mention becoming half the woman I am now. Also we have been trying to get the surgery for my husband, he has diabetes really bad and high blood pressure and needs to take off about 100lbs. His PCP is always on him about losing weight and then the medicine he put him on for the diabetes will cause rapid weight gain, go figure. His insurance is United Healthcare and they flat refuse to pay for wls, we contacted that lawyer that Dr. Hornbostal gave us the name of at the seminar, and they said that they have dealt with UHC before and they wouldn't be able to help us. So please send up some prayers for my DH he is a good christian man, has preached the lords gospel for the past 10 years has pastored 2 churches during that time. The word says that the rain will fall on the just and unjust, but it just doesn't seem fair sometimes. We don't own a house so we couldn't borrow against that to pay for wls and financially we can't come up with the money without just out and out borrowing and making a loan and we didn't want to do that. I know that God's will, will be done. God Bless you all. 36 days till Loser day!!!! Brenda

I've seen other posts about medic alert bracelets, can I ask why you need one?

Marcia im not sure that need is the operative word here. but if you were in an emergency and they tried to put a ng tub down you blind they might rupture your pouch. maybe having on it bariatiric patient, no blind n.g. tubes would help or any other medical things you would like on it too. I dont know Brenda what did you have put on yours.

If you order your bracelet from the store on this sight (which I did) it comes already ingraved with this on the back of the plate "Bariatric Surgery Patient - No NG Tube". In an emergency if you were unable to tell them you had rerouted intestines it would tell them.
