TGIF WHATS HAPPENING

Wow Friday again, this week went by really fast. This month is going to go by fast for me , at least I hope so. I have so much going on that it hopefully will go fast. Our best friends for years are coming down this weekend . We always laugh and laugh with them. The guy, Ric and my husband, Joe are two nuts and they just feed off of each other when they are together. All Jeanie and I do is stand back and laugh most of the time. Then we have doctor appointments and I have an appointment with the eye doctor in Springfield , the support meeting is next Monday, Joe gets another injection this month, Craig has his surgery this month, I have a painting class this month and I have to start my pre op diet on the 17th I think. So hopefully I wont have time to think about how long it is yet till surgery much. I am trying to get together some money to send to this girl I know in Ga. That weighs over 500 pounds . She lives on s.s. disability and is alone. She doesn't have any family that will help her or anything. She is only in her 40s and is in the processes of getting surgery but has to get back and forth to Atlanta from Macon where she lives. To do that she has to rent a van to travel in and then has to beg to find someone that will drive her to the appointment. Since she is trying so hard to get the surgery and is low on money I am trying to get a couple of hundred together to get to her to help out some on gas at least She is going to have to be going back and forth to Atlanta at least 3 times before surgery . If anyone wants to help me out feel free to email me and I will send you my address ok? Melissa: You should be getting a really nice tan about now from all the playing in the pool and besides it being excellent exercise. Was wondering how late do you all leave your pool up? I was wondering if it would be worth it for me to go buy one now so I would have it after surgery too. Of course I would have to wait until Dr. said I could get in the water like that . But that would be the best exercise and without hurting yourself too. Sherr: Is Columbia the only hospital your insurance will pay for? How come? I thought you had Medicare? Anyway good luck on your trip today . I hope you find time to enjoy yourself a little. Brenda: Did you see that post from Jodi about the meetings in Cape Gireadeau.? Those wont be too far away from you . At least to be able to go once a month . It would really help you out to go to them. We wish you could come to ours too and after you lose a lot of weight maybe you will fill like driving this far to one sometime soon. You all could come over on Monday morning and stay a few days with me in my guest house , make it a vacation. We could get together with some of the others and have a good time. Andrew: I am so very glad you got an appointment so quick. Someone must have canceled and /or because you got your stuff to them so fast and all complete. What ever it is great. No after the consult meeting with Dr. they then send all of your stuff into Medicare for approval , then they call you and set up an appointment for pre-op stuff and that is an all day thing. They will take your blood then so unless you just want to you don't need to do it again now. And your surgery date is usually a week after the pre op appointment. Hope it is soon for you and we are so glad you are posting on the board. Dr. Hornbostel even took care of getting my pcp to write the letter of recommendation. I didn't have to do anything except fill out that paper work that you did on line. If you have any other questions let us know and we will try to answer , some one here hopefully will know. Lol This morning the weather is wonderful isn't it. Thank God for days like we have been having . It is currently 53 degrees. I love it. Will take all of them I can get. Jan, what pre-op diet are you starting on the 17th? I keep hearing you all talk about different diets that you're supposed to start and when I read the notebook that Dr. H gave me there is only 1 diet to start. My book has a diet that we're supposed to start 10 days before surgery and it's not liquid. The day before surgery I'm supposed to go on a clear liquid diet with no milk products and then drink that cleaning out stuff. Is there something I'm missing? I'm really confused! Linda

no linda i sorry i didnt clarify. it is the one in the book. i thought it was for a month before lol good if it is only 10 days that is better. i can do 10 days easy. lol Jan

Good Morning Can you believe that it is Friday already?? Boy time is sure flying isnt it?? I am sure to some that are waiting for their date it isnt. lol Craig: Buddie your time is almost here. Are you going to be at the support meeting on Monday?? It would be so great if you could be there. Since we wont be seeing you again (besides your posting) before your surgery. Maybe some of us could pray with you over your surgery. Jan: I usually take my down around Sept but it depends on the weather also. I love them not too big and not too small. I hope you have a great time with your friends this weekend. Benny: How are you doing?? Stay away from the Flu Bug so you can come to the support meeting this month. Sherr: Enjoy your meeting in Springfield. I sure did it was better then any of the other meeting I went thro. I will be praying for safe travel there and home. Rachael: How is your cousin doing?? Sherr My bestest friend is white like that. We have always said that we are sister that was seprated at the hip bone. Becuase we have so many thing alike. But we will be out in public and you should see peoples faces when they ask if we are sisters. (Now mind you she is blonde, fair skin and blue eyes. I am dark complected, dark hair and dark brown eyes) lol I tell them yes this is my sister. Her father was the Milk man and mine was the gardner. We get a kick out of it. Someone maybe looking you up at the meeting on Saturday. Her name is Rose Ann I told her you was going to be there (In a Pink outfit) and to say hello for me. She was wondering how I knew what you was gonna wear. Anyhow Rose Ann and I started together in Kansas City but are from around the Joplin area. She a very sweet lady. Good Afternoon Everyone, Jan I did see the post on the Cape Giradeau meetings and I will go to it, but I can't go this time. It's about a 2 hour drive from my house to Cape so that will work better. I am pretty well over the stomach flu, I hope none of you get it cause it's bad. I thought I was gonna die! I read all the posts you guys and gals put on here and I'm starting to get worried !! I've heard different ones mention a letter of recommendation from your regular doctor, a pysch eval. and it seems there was something else I can't remember. I have not been told to get any of that is this something they will lay on me when I get there on Aug. 11 for my pre-op day???? I'm like Jan talked about ; I'm afraid something is gonna happen that will keep me from getting my surgery on the 17th of Aug. I guess we can't help but worry it's in our nature but I just so want to get it over and done with and then I know nobody can take it back!! Everybody have a great day and weekend . Brenda

I am glad to see everyone is doing good. Your dates are coming so fast. I am so happy for you all! I am still waiting on insurance. They gave me the run around today and told me to call next friday because it was sent to the Authorization department thursday. So... another week before calling again. It was so nice this morning but now its very humid here. I took courtney (my daughter) to the store and got her some new jeans and shorts and about 7 shirts. She is almost 11 and loves tinker bell lol.. So got her 3 tinkerbell shirts. She is going to my best friends house ( have known her forever) for a coulple of weeks. They are going to go see Kelly Clarksons concert in Kansas City. So we are going to head down to St. Joseph tomorrow morning. Hope everyone is doing really well and staying out of the heat... Hugs.. Hey ya'll, What a wonderful it's been, we been out running errands all day and now I'm bushed lol. Yeah Jan I was so excited about getting an appointment so quick. I did get my stuff filled out and in quick cuz I so want that surgery date asap. I remember Dena saying she thought Sept was the first opening the Dr. had so I dunno if someone cancelled like ya said or what but I'm rejoicing, thank ya so much for all the encouragement. Coming to this board and posting and making friends has been the best thing that has happen'd to me besides getting an appt. with Dr. H I saw my PCP today and he is gonna have my letter of recommendation ready and also my psych evaluation cuz he's a registared psychologist, woohoo thats a plus. He said he'll fax them to Dr. Hornbostel as soon as I have my appointment on Aug. 9th, after that hopefully it wont be long til I get a date . Jan hope ya have a great weekend with your friends, its like medicine to make ya feel so good when ya laugh alot like that. Brenda, Like Jan said I'd email Dena about the Dr.s referral and psych evaluation. When Dena sent me an email that she had all my stuff and I could call for an appointment she also wrote about me getting the ball rolling with my PCP for his referral and psych eval. So glad your feeling better. I saw the post about the Cape group also and will be going there too, not this time tho, I've had such a busy week with going up to Sedalia on tuesday, seems we havnt stopped since and Im just wore out.
