Wed. Whats Happening Missouri.
Good Morning everyone. Yesterday I got out at daybreak and dug up a large iris bed that had become too crowded and overgrown . By the time I got all the iris out I was dripping wet with sweat. Wasn't that hard to get them out or anything it was just so hot. I got so weak I thought I was going to pass out. So after I got the mud off me I went in the house and took a shower and lay down for a couple of hours. I still was so tired I could barely move and could barely hold my eyes open. We did go on into town and got our hair cut and colored but didn't go into Springfield I felt totally drained and could barely move I felt so bad. We had lunch at our favorite place and I ordered a cup of their homemade soup but was only able to eat about half of it and brought the rest of it home. I told Joe my eating yesterday was like I had already had surgery. I did force myself to drink lots of water later in the day when I realized that I hadn't had but one glass of water all day. I got to feeling better by 8 pm. I think it is just the heat causing this. I don't do well in high temps.
Benny : Am so glad that you are feeling better. Did Melissa send you a list of the vits she takes. Also Colette in her post on here says the ones that Dr. H. recommends. .As far as food to stock up on will be like your liq diet for the week before and the week or two afterwards. But im sure that the time afterwards the amount that you will need isn't much. Most everyone says to stock up on Sugar free Popsicles because they will taste so good to you when you are trying to heal.
Linda Smith: I don't think you are crazy just anxious. Me too. I have all sorts of stuff that might taste good after surgery, sugar free, jello,Popsicles, puddings, boulion, etc ,etc,
Found some centrum orange flavored chewable vits. At the Country Mart the other day and bought but still need to find some calcium. Have a coupon for a dollar off of viactive calcium chews that I will get when I go to Springfield or somewhere.
Barb T: I know how you are feeling with the round of depression . I have been feeling some weird things too and im sure that it is tension or anxiety or what ever you want to call it.August at times sounds like a long way off and at others it sounds like wow that is just in a few days.
Hang in there we will all make it thru it.
Melissa : are you feeling less stiff today. How did you sleep on your new bed last night. We have the select comfort beds and I don't think we will ever have anything else anymore. They are just way too comfortable. When we go off from home it is always a joy to get back to our bed.
I hope you didn't get too burnt laying out by the pool yesterday .It was so hot would have been nice to have a pool to jump into.
Colette: thanks for the info on the vits. I know everyone that is pre-op appreciate it. Yeah Melissa and her jokes are a hoot isn't she.
Sky: Im glad that you called the dr. about your throwing up and heartburn. And glad that starting taking your previcid again is helping . Get to feeling better girl and keep up the good work with losing the weight so you will really feel better.
Brenda: in the white booklet that Dr. H. gave us it give some guidelines about diet and stuff and the vitamins thing comes from other post op patients mostly. You will need a good protein powder to mix with water, or 1% milk to take to help get in all of your protein daily and a chewable multivitamen and chewable calcium.
And your clear liquids for the diet after surgery. They will have to be like sugar free also.
Loved the joke. Lol that is a really cute one. You will just have to be really picky about what you eat when you have church fellowships. But you wont have to avoid them. There are always so many good cooks .
Well it is 53 days and counting till August 14th It is getting closer and closer. I am second guessing myself sometimes about if I can really follow all the rules but then I know I can . All we have to remember is that the surgery doesn't fix our heads it only fixes our stomachs and gives us a tool to work with to be able to lose the weight.

Good Morning My Missouri Family:
How is everyone this fine morning?? I'm feeling pretty good. DH & I are taken my nephew to Reptile World today. Gotta run a few errands and mow the back yard. But other then that not much else is going on. Gonna get back into the pool today to exercise after we get home. It's suppose to be another hot one today. So everyone if your out in the heat make sure you drink lots of water!!!
Love ya
Melissa
I wish that I lived closer to you... we both have the gardening "bug"... well actually my husband Mike does as well... we love to landscape... still working on our yard/gardens... they are in progress and we run out of time to do everything that we want.
We were thinking of starting the large waterfall/pond thing this year but I am still planning it. Since I will be having my knee replaced next Thursday (June 29th) we might be putting that on hold for this year. It is going to be a LARGE scale projec****erfall with stream with an upper pond and lower pond. Also going to have a large patio/pergola area with plantings around the lower pond... so it is not going to be even a big weekend project... and of course I have to have the stairs built into the hillside that this is all going on....
...sorry got to rambling... I love gardening!...
Hope everyone has a great day... I'm getting ready to head into work in just a bit!...everyone stay cool.....
Elizabeth~
Just saw your post talking about reptiles...
Just got done taking care of our Finn.. (translates into SUPER HUGE GREEN IGUANA)... he is a big boy... and he loves his brekkie.... just finished snap peas, green beans and collard greens.. and of course had to get loved on by his mama and then got misted ... right now he is lounging on one of his big logs. He is around 4-5 foot long and his body is bigger around than my upper arm.
We are talking BIG LIZARD..... but I love him all the same....
Whoever says that reptiles do not have personalities or that they don't respond to their families is so sadly mistaken... this big boy has got personality plus.
I will have to post some pics of him when I am able...
Elizabeth~
Morning all,
Well, I ended up having the day off as we only had one person for orientation today and the boss posponed it till tomorrow. She said I was too expensive to train one person at a time. LOL
About the vitamins, listen to your doctor. Just as Melissa said, each is different. Dont buy too much protein ahead of time - please- as the first 2 months your taste buds are not the same. My daughter made me small containers of jello that is like a slush. She used juice(100 percent fruit juice instead of the water and froze it.) you take it out and let is melt some and it is like a slush.
I have a question about the vitamin chews. Are they like a carmel chew or do they sorta melt away. I am concerned if like a carmel chew and you swallow them like chewing gum accidentally will it hurt your pouch? I still go on the caution side of gum etc. Afraid to chew it because I am afraid to swallow it.
Jan, take care of the heat. You can get very sick if you dont dring - before or after surgery. Everyone have a nice day. Colette
Good morning everyone
I am feeling so much better now. I am glad that you are doing better Benny, you have been in my prayers, as well as everyone else on this board.
And Colette the calcium chews I use are the Spring Valley sugar free (this is like a wal-mart brand of the higher priced stuff) and they start out like a camel chew but they do dissolve in your mouth also as you chew them. I have the chocolate flavored ones and I really like them.
And I would love to see a pic of those 11 puppies. I bet they are really cuties.
Well I hope you all have a wonderful day. Take care and God Bless.
Sky
May The Lord bless and keep you
May His face shine upon you
And be gracious and give you peace
Jan would you please drop a line to my Aunt Betty and tell her about Doc Hornbostel? She is retired and only has medicare and wants surgery so bad. She wants to have surgery with my surgeon but he is a long way from getting the medicare approval. I emailed her Doc Hornbostels number and asked her to call him as she can get surgery there sooner. It would encourage her to hear from someone besides me. She has seen how well my wife and I have done and wants surgery so bad . She is a sweet woman and a character too. Her email address is [email protected]. Her name is Betty Jane Schmidt and I think she is 66. She has diabetes pretty bad and has trouble breathing sometimes. I know she would do well she once lost on Weigh****cher and got down real slim but gained it all back plus a few pounds She can get discouraged easily and I dont want her to give up. Medicare keeps changing the rules and that discourages her. Thanks cause I know you will help. Me and the eleven little puppies are doing pretty good most of them have their eyes open now.
