Curious --

I have found it helpful knowing what insurance companies might approval WLS but I am curious as to businesses might be attached to those health benefits. Since I am already out of work and applying to companies I might as well apply to as many who provide the insurance that pays for the surger as those who don't. So, it would really be helpful if all of you who have been approved or have had the surgery would share the names of the company who provided the benefit. Just trying to find another way to WLS. Thank you, Penny

I know Walmart will not cover wls so dont go there. My wife had United healthcare and they are very good unless the policy has an exclusion. I have heard blue cross and blue sheild is not wls friendly. My wife worked at a small grocery store chain that had unitedhealchare but they changed insurance companies are we had our surgeries. Large grocery or department stores may be good like Target, or Kmart, or some large grocery store in your area. Maybe try your local state board and see who has had surgery. Good luck.

Penny, Some companies choose to opt out of the specific insurance plans that will pay for WLS. What I mean is that, say Blue Cross/Blue Shield pays for WLS and the company you decide to work for carries Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The company that you decide to work for my have chosen a specific plan through them that DOESN'T cover WLS. I'm just using Blue Cross/Blue Shield as an example because I have come across postings of people who've had this problem but I don't remember which insurance company they were dealing with. Your best option is to make sure that the policy where you plan to work doesn't have an exclusion. Lia
