Just wanted some....well i guess you could call it advice.....
I am only 20 years old and I DO NOT want to offend anyone....but I'm going to try to ask this in a way that maybe it won't, and if it does, I'M REALLY SORRY! I am considering the lap RNY with Dr. Wagner. i am looking at all of your pages and it is VERY inspiring how all of you have pulled through with little to no problems, and I'll take the chance to say now that you all look AWESOME! Isn't it amazing what even just a 30 pound loss can be when you need to lose so much? Well anyway, I am looking for younger people, around my age maybe who have had this done. This is just a life long decision and I'm still pretty young and i just don't want to regret something later down the road (ALTHOUGH I really don't think i will, this is pretty much my last hope for losing weight and getting healthy) My husband would also like to read about some of the younger folks, good or bad, loving it or hating it. Don't get me wrong, I read about everyone I get a chance to, as I said before its so inspiring.
Thank you so much!
PS - ANYONE, younger or older, had this done a long time? If so, how have you fared, any complications later down the road, or smooth sailing?
Thank you again.....
As stated in the earlier replies you can look in the 20's forum but I have to say something else too. PLEASE don't be afraid to ask a question on this board. I have encountered the nicest ,most understanding and caring people in the world on this board and this site . People are so supportive whether you are pre-op,post-op or still thinking about it. We want you to make an informed decision and you can't do that without having all of your questions answered.Ask away -we're here for you !
Good luck and take care,
Dannielle
Jacquline,
While I'm not in your age group (I'm 36) I can address the regret issue. My regret is that I waited this long to have this done. If I had my wls when i was in my 20's, I may have been able to head off the health problems that my obesity created. Also, it's a known fact that the older we are when we lose our weight, the more likely we are to need plastic surgery later. As we age, our skin becomes less elastic and supple and it becomes harder for the skin to return to it's pre-fat tightness. I don't think anyone is offended by your question, sweetie. Is your husband having any issues with your looking into wls? It can be a frightening thing for spouses on so many levels. Hang in there and be sure to investigate any concerns you have, even if they seem silly. You have to feel comfortable with your decision.
