06/04 I'm not feeling good today. My left ankle and leg has beening swelling alot. I had a trimalleor fracture in 1988, had to have 2 surgeries to fix it. Eversince the surgery my leg and ankle swells. Sometimes worse than others. My back has had me in excruciating pain, I do pray that having WLS and losing "hopefully" 150lbs will make my back not hurt so bad. I have degenerative disc disease in my spine with bone on bone and several large bone spurs. So I know WLS is not going to make the disease go away but taking off this 100lb belly will take the pull off my spine and maybe lesson the pain. 2 months, 12days, 5 hours, 7 minutes and 18 seconds till my WLS!!!!!!!!!!!

Brenda sorry you are in such pain, that is the reason im up at this un-godly hour too is pain. Mine is my knees and back. I have the same problem you do in the back and it is very very painful .I am hoping for a little relief also when I lose the excess weight. Like you I know it wont fix my back but hopefully it will lessen the pain. I know it can only help some. I dont sleep well because of not being able to find a comfortable way to sleep . I use lots of pillow to brace and stuff but even that doesnt help at times. So understand completly what you are going thru. I guess I will be getting home on the day you have surgery..We can compare notes as we go along. What is your height and weight now? Mine is 5 foot 3 inches tall and 254... 2 months,9days,4hours,30 minutes, and 20 secs. Jan

Thanks for your understanding. Most people just look at you and say "well if you would just lose weight your back wouldn't hurt" most of the people that are so short sighted can eat anything they want and have never had a weight problem in their life!! I am 5' 7" and I weight 295. 2 months,11 days, 19 hours, 43 minutes, and 18 seconds. Brenda

Losing the weight will help but your problems will not go away completely. Just think how hard it would be to carry around a hundred pound sack of flour everyday. That is what you are lugging around on your body and losing that will help lots.

Don't you know it. I couldn't even begin to pick up a 100 lbs of anything! I know losing the weight is the best thing I can do for myself. Brenda

Hi Brenda, I too have DJD in my joints and pain in my back but after surgery you will feel better. If I go to bed and sleep any longer than 5-6 hours my back still hurts. I still get stiff but I am certainly in a lot better condition than before the surgery. I cant wait for all of you to have your surgeries. Colette

Thank you so much for your prayers, I am a born again Christian and I know that God has brought me to this point. Everything has happened so fast! I went to the April 5th seminar, went to see Dr. Hornbostal on May 10th, go for my pre-op on Aug. 11th and surgery on Aug. 17th. Everyone that I talked to said not to get discouraged because the whole process could take anywhere from 6months to a year before I could have my surgery! I believe in the almighty power of the Lord and the fast process proves to me he is in this! Praise the Lord !!!
