New Beginnings Support Group/SW MO

Good Morning! My name is Lisa Sherrill and I have been attending the New Beginnings support group since April. I am really excited about the group but would like to see more of you! In our most recent meeting, a clothing exchange was brought up. Since one is not currently in place, I would like to propose a clothing exchange party! The party should have clothing racks, dressing rooms and WLS appropriate appetizers. Since clothing does not fit everyone the same (especially after WLS) I think that an opportunity to try on the clothes before taking them home will allow us to really get clothing that works for each individual. Plus, we have the added benefit of the getting together part! I sometimes feel like I am the only one that has had this done and I think that having a group that you know and that know what you are going through is an integral part of the whole process. In the last meeting, friendships were discussed and the fact that some friendships have to be severed in the name of self preservation. At this point in my life, I am not above asking for friendship. If you would be interested in participating in a clothing exchange party, can you please let me know? I am rapidly shrinking out of my clothes (as I know you all are too) and would like the opportunity to get to know you all better! Thanks for reading, Lisa

Hi Lisa, That sounds like a great idea and a lot of fun too! Before wls I always hated to try clothes on because nothing ever looked good and few things were ever big enough to fit me. There is no bigger thrill than trying something on that you think "might" fit and finding out that it's too BIG. Count me in!! Sue

Sounds like a great idea to me!! Not only would it give me a way to get some new things myself, it would give me a way to put my clothes that I've outgrown (or is that "INgrown"? LOL!!!) to good use!!
