Melissa, I read your profile and your last entry mentioned you'd been sick and in the hospital. So maybe you just have a lot going on medically right now. I think you should maybe call Dr. Richardson's office and ask them what they recommend... maybe they can run a few tests on you and figure something out. I'm sure they can offer you some great advice. Be sure and let us know how things go for you.... This isn't much help but, it's all I could think of. -Kelli

There is no way to reverse the RnY surgery. It is a permanate procedure. You need to talk to your surgeons office and see if they can recommend a diet to keep you from losing weight. Good luck. Wayne

Actually Wayne, the RNY is reversable. It is not an exact reversal, but it can be done. My Dr. in Tulsa has done two reversals due to severe side effects with dumping that were caused by some malabsorption thing they had going on pre-op. It can be done, but it is MUCH riskier than the original surgery and they will usually only do it if it is life threatening and all else to correct it fails.

Maybe you need a revision. I saw a program last night about two women who lost over 800 pounds. One woman had rny and had a terrible time until they did a revision and lengthenen the amount of intestines they had bypassed. She just was not absorbing anything useful at all and was malnourished. Sometimes people have too much intestines bypassed. The larger your bmi the more intestines the docs bypass. My bmi at surgery was only 43 so they did not bypass too much on me and I have not have too many problems. I would call your doc and ask about a revision or maybe you just need to eat more calories. Talk to your doc and a nutricianist.
