Went to info meeting last night

DH and I went to Dr. Hodges info meeting last night. There were lots of peeps there. I didn't really learn anything excitingly new because I've researched so much but I liked Dr. H and thought he was thorough and handled all questions really well. I had one strange reaction, however. Every time he mentioned that after surgery most folks with diabetes II were cured my eyes would get all full of tears and I would have to breathe deeply to get control of my emotions. I think for the first time I really did realize that I have a disease that can kill me. I've always just kind of said "my diabetes is controlled and I'll be fine" but I guess my inner self was worrying more than I knew. Getting rid of all these pills is the best benefit WLS can have for me. Of course looking better will be nice but feeling better is the huge result I'm hanging on to. Also, a majority of the people there were wanting lap bands and I've always thought I wanted RNY. I still am leaning that direction but thought I'd wait to really decide until my surgeons appointment. I'm afraid to get my hopes up because my BMI is just 40.7 but with comorbids I'm hoping my insurance will approve me. Thanks for all your support and good words. You are all such an inspiration to me. Lana
