This may sound crazy but I really wish I could find someone in my town who has good insurance that I could marry so I could get surgery. It is hard to watch approval after approval for others(on the message boards) and to read the exclusion in my policy. I am very happy for everyone else and I am trying to stay positive . I keep researching my options but so far marriage would be my easiest (and maybe only) option. ANY IDEAS?? Dannielle

My insurance also had an exclusion for WLS for ANY reason. I was self pay ... took the money from my savings and paid for it. I think I would find another way besides marrying someone to get the surgery.

My insurance has an exclusion, too, so I'm going to be self-pay. I have already borrowed the money for my surgery. If you have equity in your home, you could refinance it and maybe get the money that way. I'm very lucky, my dad wants me to have the surgery so he's loaning me the money to get it done. I love him to pieces for this! I'm sure there has to be some other way besides marrying someone to get the surgery. Good luck to you and God's many blessings in your search. Prayer does help when you're in need and don't know which way to turn. Linda

Dannielle, I know what you mean...I was dating a guy whose insurance paid for it and I was thinking if our relationship took off...who knows, maybe I could have the surgery because self-pay wasn't an option for me. No, I didn't marry him, in fact found out we really were not right for one another. A unexpected job loss forced me to find a new place to work and low and behold....it covers it. I'm just waiting for my date!! The insurance is with T-mobile and they even cover same sex partners. I'm not gay, but if I didn't have a boyfirend, I'd ask you to move in with me until you could have your surgery. I know exactly how you feel. Maybe you can hook up with someone else that has good insurance. Good luck.
