WANTED: ANY INFO ON SUCCESSFUL FUNDING IN MISSOURI

I'll try anything at this point! i've been denied by two separate BC/BS insurance companies...even hired an attorney for the second one, only to be denied. I've had the surgical consultation. I meet the criteria and then some. I'm miserable. Please Help!

What was the reason for denial?

well the first denial was with BC/BS of Missouri...and it was an outright exclusion...the second was with my husband's insurance, BC/BS of Alabama...which did specifically say that they provided for one bariatric procedure per lifetime...and i thought...FINALLY!! but then they made you jump through a million hoops and basically i was denied because the "medically" supervised weight loss program i had been involved in was supervised by an RN and not an MD. they kept changing what they wanted me to prove till i decided to get an attorney...and of course there aren't any attorneys around here that were well versed in this area, so he basically charged me $1000 to find out what i already knew...go figure. At this point i'm filling out applications for loans to just self pay...hopefully that'll work. Hope everything with you is going well...and thanks for your interest

Kelly... I'm sure that you are not going to want to hear what I have to say... but BC/BS is one of the WORST INS. companies in the state of Missouri to outright deny benefits for this surgery. There HAVE been some approvals on BC/BS for those living in Missouri but their policies are normally under other states and not existing here in Missouri. I know it sucks... I think the best alternative for you if you cannot selfpay is to try to find an employer that DOES offer this with their insurance and then try to gain employment with THEM... I know a kind of aroundtheback type of thing but when you can't afford to pay for this upfront... I don't know of any other alternative... I do understand how frustrating it is... I fought for years to be able to have this surgery and got denied more times than I want to count or even think about... perservere and get stubborn!... Best wishes... Elizabeth~
