I understand totally.  I have gained weight and became a beer drinker.  It started out with 1 1/2 little bottles of beer ( im talking the tiny bottles) and I have now graduated to anywhere from 5-15 cans.
Saturday is what did it for me, my stomach still does feel the greatest, can't eat much at all.  How stupid of me, I liked the feeling of it and it started every other weekend, then it was every weekend then it was every weekend plus 1 day a week, then 2 days a week, and the weekend, ****I am here for you, we can beat this and get back on track.  If you want to send me a IM.  I go to Fargo once and awhile to see my mom and visit my dads grave, so when I get that way I will let you know and we can maybe hook up.

Take care and WE CAN BEAT THIS......................

I will say that once I stopped drinking wine regularly, I lost 8 lbs without doing anything else.

I think we all need to remember the basics-- small portions, protein firs****ch the refined carbs-- all usual stuff.  Easier said than done, I know.

I find that when I start tracking everything I see just how much extra crap I'm eating, and it helps me realize very quickly where I need to make changes.  I use mydaily plate, but there are lots of other tracking tools.

Wow...I JUST came back today after a very, very long time away too! I will be 4yrs. out next week and gained back 30#'s...very shamefully. Just purely stupid, lazy decisions.

I am happy to see some familiar faces still here (I was more of a lurker as well)...Kelly, Connie, Darla.

Anita, I feel your "pain" and I hope for both our sakes we can figure out a way to get back on track b/c I never ever thought I'd regain THIS much. I expected a little fluxuation after hittiny my lowest but 30#'s?!? Ugh!

I need a swift kick in the rear

It has been a very long time since I've been to this board, or posted!
Next week will be 4yrs. since my surgery where I had great and quick success.
I have managed, however, to regain about 30#'s!!! I was warned and told of this happening but you never think it will. It's crept up gradually to the point where now I look down and my tummy seems to stick out and my butt seems to stick out again. Sigh...
I was looking back at 6-month and 1-yr. post-op pics and I can't BELIEVE how skinny I was!!

I need serious help, advice, kick in the butt, and from somewhere, motivation to get back on track!!
I have found I don't eat quality foods. I eat almost whatever I want, just smaller quantity than I used to be able to pre-op. And I have become a wine drinker of at least 2 glasses every night!

ANYONE else out there May 2008 or 4-yr. post -op that can help?

Are there any support groups in Fargo/Moorhead area??

Marsha, I invite you to check out the group for transfer addictions.
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/crossingtotransferaddiction s/ - You'll need to join the group, then you can access the discussion board.

I recently decided my drinking was a problem-- several nights I drank a whole bottle of wine, without knowing I had done so.  Since I quit the wine last month, I've dropped 7 lbs that were bugging me.

I'm going to a weekly Al Anon meeting because of my husband's severe alcoholism.  I'd recommend AA to you as well.  Feel free to PM me, and I'll be happy to send you my personal contact information.  It's important not to get isolated.

It is so easy to get addicted, and everything I've read indicates that alcoholism progresses far more rapidly in WLS patients-- so getting help and quitting now is crucial!

Topic: Finally done
Ok I know I have said I would be back and I just haven't done it.  I think I have finally came to the conclusion it is time.  I think I have a drinking problem, I am currently up to 205 and just pissed.  I hate the way I look, I am not happy, I am in counciling at the moment so that's good I guess.

I have burning in my upper stomach I think from all the beer, and I hope I can STOP and come back here for support.  I feel so ashamed I let it go this long. I thought I was making me HAPPY..... but it only lasted for the night when I had no worries.  Geesh..........

I always heard it is easier for Weight loss people to become addicts, and I always said never me, but guess what it is me.  Has anyone else had this issue?

I would like to come back for some guidence, pep talks, what not.

Thanks,
Marsha

But that makes my official loss this week that much more- close to 4 lbs.  Must have been the RUNNING Saturday!  :)  Thanks for the inspiration and for keeping me going!!!

I am .6 away from moving into the "overweight" category and no longer obese- I've been fighting these last 10 lbs to get there- hoping for this week- wish me luck!!!
