Topic: RE: Anyone know how much Lap Band surgery is?
Good Morning!
I am self pay and when researching a couple of years ago, they told me to expect about $20K. That was a good estimate. I had RNY, but they included all types of surgeries into that estimate. The best thing to do is go to an info meeting and ask the question. I actually went to 3 info meetings at 3 different hospitals and got the same answer.
Peace!

HI Renee, I got in about 3 AM this morning and I am planning on maiking Saturday coffee. I had a great 10 days at my son's home, but there was something wrong with me. I woke up early every day and worked that multifloor monster of a home ALL day long.
It is amazing how much resilience I had. I made darn sure I kept hydrated as the first four days were in the high 80's.
I got in NO biking or walks (unless you count mowing the grass) but the long days remodeling the kitchen and bath really worked in my favor, I put in 14-18 hours a day. I did snack somewhat less, and realy watched the types of food I ate. I am down about 3 pounds off the top over the last 8 days. I am feeling great.
I just wish I could sleep better. The three and four hour night rests have to stop.
HW 378
SW 332
LW 220
regain to 260
Current 255

Dolfinluvr,
I wear very good spanx underneath! I have two sections of skin, the panni, which hangs right at the level of my back pain and is causing most of it, and then the upper section above the belly button that is especially bothersome because after my leak, they had to open me up from sternum to belly button, thus creating a "butt-like" appearance, and belly button rashes.
For my insurance, they only agreed to the panni portion, because the back pain is one of the reasons for removal according to my policy. For the upper portion, despite the pictures of the rashes, etc, they denied that. They consider an upper abdominalplasty cosmetic, and my Dr. said they will never cover that but I could pay out of pocket that amount. The total surgery is estimated at 13-15K with no complications.

I DO TOO!!!! I always see/read about the coffee groups (and I love coffee) and wish I could be there.
There isn't a whole lot for support other than at the hospitals in the Fargo-Moorhead area...that I know abouts anyway.

I have never done it, so I honestly don't know. Most canned soups have too much sodium; I assume she recommends the low sodium versions. But you can still control sodium much better if you make it yourself.
I wish you lived closer and could come to our Saturday coffee group. The support really helps me stay on track.

Nicole,
I am VERY curious about your upcoming procedure! Looking at some of your pictures it doesn't appear you have a huge apron or anything (wondering where you are hiding all this stomach skin!)...but more like what I am dealing with. I don't have the back pain your're dealing with - not that I can directly relate to my stomach skin, but what I have is really frustrating and keeping my confidence down. After two babies close together and the surgery where I lost 111#'s fast...its flabby.
What requirements did you meet/have that said the plastic surgeon could help you? And how did you get insurance to pay?!?!
PM if you wish...or post here.
THANKS!!

I was actually looking into that (again) yesterday. I have done it once about a year ago. Lost about 5-7#'s. Unfortunately, the philosophy did not "stick" and I fell off the wagon AGAIN!
I had posted on the main boards about the Day 1 & 2 creamed soups you can have. I used canned creamed soups last time and had about 1-2 cans a day along with other things allowed. I wasn't sure if canned creamed soups was what it was referring to or more the recipes she lists? I had like cream of asparagus, cream of broccoli, cream of potato (probably not the best choice) and tomato soups.
Anyone know?

what about the 5-day pouch test? If you google that, you will find websites about it. i know people who have done it, there are some on this board. it is mostly a "back to the basics" to remind you of the rules for gastric bypass patients.
Topic: RE: Breakfast ideas
I have some homemade vanilla custard almost every weekday morning. It's got the protein so it's filling and one batch lasts a week (6 1/2 cup servings). Once in awhile I will add a little granola to it for some crunch.
