Hi. I started at southdale and just didn't connect. Went to park nicollet for my first seminar mid June, submitted to insurance July 8 approved July 9! I like they do everyone thing in house. I didnt even need an mmpi. I am having surgery with the awesome Dr. Jones on August 16, 2012!

Mine said carnation too, but then I got a list from them of other proteins that would be acceptable. I use their protein goal (65 g for me) as a minimum. I was supposed to have milk between meals and I added half a scoop of protein (I like syntrax nectar sweets and latte) to each instead of carnation. I used carnation on the run and traveling because it came in easy to carry packets instead of the giant container. I still rarely use a straw unless it's a thick ptein smoothie otherwise I just get too much air. Other people have no problem with it, especially awhile out. What I love about the intak bottle is that it's 100% leakproof- great for in my bag and no straw (I hate washing the straws.)

Hi Kim -
Thanks so much for the response :-) I am an addict of water containers! I did have a question about them though - I have heard so many people say that you should not drink out of a straw. Some of my very favorite have straws. Have you had problems with straws? The dietician also said that I shouldnt be doing protien shakes - that I should do carnation instant breakfast - I am not quite sure what to think about that? I think I would feel more comfortable knowing I was getting some protien in after surgery......

I didn't use the baby spoons at all, and bought way too many small bowls. The ones I still use are some little dessert cups and dip bowls. THe best thing you can buy is a grea****er bottle collection- don't skimp here- get the best leakproof ones you can afford. Especially at first I'd fill all three of mine with different beverages in the AM, and knew they had to be gone by the end of the day. If you'll be doing min your own protein shakes I also recommend a few Blender Bottles.

Hi All -
I am wondering what items folks have purchased getting ready for WLS? I have heard people talking about baby spoons and all of that but I am wondering what products really helped make life easier....
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Topic: RE: Hi All - I'm new - Insurance question?
Thanks Everyone for your replies. I have had all of my appointments : nutritionist, sleep test, psych eval, DEXA Scan, blood work...all of that good stuff. I had an appointment with my surgeon last Thursday and he is good to go and gave his approval of me having the RNY.
When I left the office he said that they would submit to insurance that day.....well it is Wednesday now and they just submited yesterday - makes me a little nervous - but I am sure it is a process to get all of the stuff together. I provided the clinic with medical history showing weights for the last 6 years - diagnosis of co-morbidities - high BP, sleep apnea, insulin issues etc. I hope that they are able to use all of the information that I provided them with. I don't want to get denied for something stupid. I called the insurance company and they have not recieved it yet - it was faxed yesterday so I am sure that they have to get it into their system - I am so impatient. I have waited YEARS to get to this pioint and I want it all right now! The woman at Medica let me know that they have to make a decision within 10 days of reciept so here is hoping!

I work there. I haven't had surgery yet, but my coworkers have. Kendrick is the surgeon to ask for from what I hear. You'll have to let me know how it goes.
Topic: Tender Heart Support Group
I did it! I decided to start a support group for eastern/central mn (the Pine City Area). This group is for anyone who struggles with weight or who has struggled with weight. Including being under weight. Also for those with eating disorders. If you or anyone you know is in the area and interested in joining please let me know.
