Topic: PCP that will help with pre/post- op care?
Hello,
I'm looking for a PCP in Minnesota who will help when it comes to plastic surgery in Mexico. I don't know if anyone has had surgery in Mexico or will be having it done in Mexico. I am 100% confident in the plastic surgeon I found in Mexico (Dr. Sauceda he is raved about on the plastics forum.) I know its kind of early to start looking for someone to help but I figured someone might know of a PCP that won't give me the OMG YOU"RE GOING TO MEXICO talk. So if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you again,
Tiffany

Thanks for your posting Paul. I just happen to not have any kids tomorrow morning so you can count me in. I really appreciate your invitation. I'll be the short girl with long brown hair and glasses looking lost. See you in the morning.

We have a woman in our South of the River group that had her surgery in Mexico. I think it may have been Dr Alverez. She had a DS operation and I think it came out to 13,500. I had my RNY at Abbott and with a few extra's thrown in it came out to 54,000.
Our South of the River group meets Saturdays 8:30-10 or so. We are meeting at Eagan's Byerly's Yankee Doodle and 35E. Join us if you can. We are in the coffee shop there, we usually have 5-8 people. Look for the water bottles and then join us.
I will be there and you will see a red motorcycle jacket and maybe a helmet.

Well, the subject line says it all. I have decided to finally persue bariatric surgery. (sleeve for me please!).. The only problem is that pesky insurance company. WLS is listed as an exclusion on my policy and my dealings through e-mail have led to their reply of absolute denial of coverage regardless of necessity. So I'm left with self pay. Checked with a few hospitals and the starting fee is 20,000 just for surgery and hospital stay. That doesn't even cover any pre-op tests or requirements. The letter I got from Abbott listed about 35,000 worth of fees as a minimum. YIKES is right. I just can't do it. So I've been looking into Dr. Alvarez in Predras Negras, Mexico. It's 8,900 excluding airfare and I have googled him to death. Low complication rate, US comparable hospital
(although older), and a million positive reviews from previous patients with 3,300 surgeries under his belt. Am I nuts to seriously consider him? Anyone gone to him or have any other self-pay options in MN??

Not suburbs, but I've been very happy with Lisa Ley, PA-C, at Crosstown Clinic (Fairview). I'm a nurse, so I'm super picky about my health care team.
Topic: Summer is flying by weigh-in! How y'all doing?
It's Monday afternoon, not Monday morning. I'm a bit late, but I had a crazy morning today. If it could go wrong, it did. Oh well, this too shall pass.
Starting weight: 298.4
Last week: 139.0
This week: 141.8
Gain of 2.8 lbs this week
Yes, my bachanalian weekend caught up with me this Monday morning. I partied a bit too much on Saturday night, then spent Sunday being lazy (meaning, no exercise) and baking bread. So I paid for my conduct on the scale this morning.
I did run a lot last week: specifically I ran 28.1 total miles, plus another two miles on my bike. (My DD wiped out on her bike and cut that ride a bit short.) Gotta jus****ch the alcohol and eating bad stuff and I will get back where I belong. Have a great week!

Love it, Kelly! I so enjoy reading your facebook posts, but I'd love to see you at coffee sometime, too. We miss you!

Dr. Joel Sagedahl at Northwest Family Physicians in Plymouth is my family practice MD. 763-504-6600 He has been supportive of me and he listens to you without rushing you through. I have been seeing him for about 4 or 5 yrs. He recommended my surgeon and is a really great doctor.

GB=gastric bypass. I am just looking for someone who is familiar with the surgery and different needs that are related to it. Basically I am wanting to find a GP to see for regular doctoring (cold/flu/uti etc) but who will have a knowlege and understanding of those who have had roux n y. I havent seen a doctor in years and would like to have just one instead of a bunch of specialists.
