I've seen your posts in the past...and watched your incredible shrinking women pics and been in awe and amazement and what you accomplished after surgery.
I have just as much faith in you, that you will do the same again. Granted it might not come off the same or in the same places, etc. BUT you also have the incredibly beautiful baby boy to show for it. And therefore is say worth every pound!!
Good luck to you and please share your progress with us (lurkers) as we seek quiet motivation from you!
Of course you know my struggles in this area as I know yours....thought I'd lurk on the boards for so much needed motivational kick in the rear...saw your post.
I am still struggling too...and was also ones early on saying how on earth can one drink that much after surgery?!?! I worked with someone who had surgery and drank a lot 7yrs. out. I was not a drinker before surgery at all. Now I can't fathom my evenign with out my relaxing 2-3 glasses of wine. Ugh!! Yea, and I wonder where MY weight gain has come from???? :S
I am STILL here for you and will support you in anyway I can.
Together we'll conqeuor this alcohol demon.
Hi Deb,
I just recently started to view these boards again as I am having such difficulty getting myself back on track. There is a support group that meets at Amore in West Saint Paul or the Caribou in Roseville that I attend from time to time. I am unsure of where they are meeting this weekend, but there is usually always a posting on facebook. Let me know and I can send you the information.

EEEE i have my 1st appointment tomorrow at park nicollet!
For the last 3-4 days i have been working really hard to get on track. I have cut out all the nasty carbs **** cream, toaster struttles, pie, etc) and am just sticking to the more natural foods... veggies, fruit, meats. It has been a bit hard because I often crave those other foods, but I know in the long run it's better for me and for my baby.
I am considering starting the Insanity Workout, though I hear it is super super hard. We'll see how that goes! I got out on the ice with my hockey team last week but due to gaining so much wait and being out of shape, I didn't play very long. BUT... it was a start!!
Have to.... just keep swimming.
I wished you lived closer so we could meet for coffee. Maybe that is why this forum is here, to get people together that wouldn't otherwise have support.
My statement about wine really should be a 3 page discussion as to why I would state that. I will give just a touch of information to help you see the broader reason.
First and last, if I want to give you the best long term advice it would be to find the "cutthefatpodcast.com" online. It is run by a pharmacist and a physical trainer. It is the most comprehensive advice I have seen. There are 50+ podcast that you can download for free and listen while you walk, bike etc.
Second your goal should be something like "long term health" because losing weight without changing your lifestyle choices is pointless, we all really struggle when we get closer to goal and have re-introduced regular food into the menu plan. Also "health" carries more importance than how you feel about yourself on a given day.
The wine thing is related to insulin spiking AND the lessening of mental control. Stay away from carbs in general, but especially those that cause a quick spike.
Always dense protein first as this will keep you full longer and rebuild body cells.
Weigh, measure and journal. You will learn a lot about food and yourself. Stay on track, this can be quite a ride, but youwon't like how short is becomes if you don't follow your doctors advice. This ain't magic, it is a tool.......
Become a good example. I was a good example of a bad example. I lost 160 pounds but have found a way to reintroduce emotional eating in my life and regained 40 pounds. Forty pounds of regain is like 75 piounds lost because of muscle /strength loss.
I enjoyed chili and beef jerky a lot. Soup is the ultimate tool of destruction. You are better off with a small amount of protein in the pouch that keeps you either satisfied or begging to throw up, than something that slides through without pain or satisfaction-filling and makes you want to eat a snack too soon.
Drink 32 oz of water or non-sweetened, non carbonated liquid before you allow yourself to eat.
That's enough for now,
Paul
THANKS!
Wondering if there is anyone out there who had their VSG at Park Nicollet with Dr Svendsen....
Up here in Duluth not much to see these days lol, mall has been dead lately which is good for walk though
