Good Monday morning all! Hope everyone is staying warm and staying focused on your 2013 resolutions.
I've fought thru a couple of tough weeks, trying to get myself back into a training program, but it's working. Just finished week two of my half-marathon program with a 6+ mile run yesterday. Had to do it on the treadmill, which was no fun, but I pushed through and got it done.
Weight holding pretty steady--was 142 last week, 141 this morning. I would like to be below 140, so I am working toward that goal, but if I continue to bounce between 138 and 142 I can live with that.
How is everyone doing with those New Year's Resolutions? So easy to make, so hard to keep. It's been two weeks, and the shine of determination begins to fade. What do you do to stay focused on your goals? Rewards? Break days?
One way that I use to stay focused is to sign up for a race--if I have paid my money I am going to run it, so I want to be fit enough to do it without dying!! I signed up for the 100% Irish for a Day 10-mile run on March 9th, so that's my focus right now. My goal race is the Fargo Half Marathon in May--i have hopes of beating my best time there.
For anyone who has ever considered walking or running in a race, please join us for the Charities Challenge Challenge Obesity 5K on April 20th. This is a really nice 5K event which emphasizes the benefits of exercise in battling obesity and will honor those of us who have lost more than 100 lbs. You don't have to run, we will definitely have people in our group walking, running or anything in between. Our team is called "Formerly Fat Friends" and the password to join our team is "coffee." Please join us!!

This seems great. Too bad I am up in New Brighton. I just had surgery on the 2nd, and could really use some support.
Please join us! We meet every Saturday morning at 8:30am. We will be meeting this Saturday, January 12th at the Panera Bread in Burnsville Center. We are usually at a long set of tables up at the front of the restaurant-look for lots of people with water bottles, LOL.
On alternate weeks we meet at the Caribou Coffee inside the Byerlys in Eagan. Always at 8:30. Some of us meet at 8:00am to go running or walking beforehand.
There has been a group walking at 8am in the Burnsville Mall before coffee--the mall is open for walking at that time and it's quite nice for that. A couple of us will be doing a run outside, if it's not too icy. If you are on Facebook let me know and I will add you to our FB group.
Marsha & Kelly...did you ever meet for coffee?? I wanna come too!! :P
I do 2.5 miles 3 times a week. Wow I do 390 miles a year I am going to have to work a little hard!!!
My weight is up this week. I shouldn't be too surprised, since I haven't been eating properly. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, but I permitted too much sugar and carbs into my diet over the holidays, and now I crave it. It's hard to back that off again, but I'm trying. Weighed in at 142.0 on the scale this morning, GRRR.
I completed the first week of my half-marathon training program this last week. It feels good to be back in training again, even though I missed one workout this week.
Coffee group was a happy reminder this last Saturday! Thanks, everyone, for bringing your "big-girl" pants; it was fun to see the big jeans and remember how far we have come. (Trying to post the pic here, but I can't figure out how to do it.) Next week, 8:30am at the Panera Bread in Burnsville Mall. Everybody is welcome!
