Topic: RE: Hello everybody!
I had my surgery with Abbott, but they use the same surgeons, but have different office staffs. I have gone to St. Joe's support groups and they really are wonderful. I am 18 moinths out and I still drop in once in awhile.
You might also find "non-hospital" support helpful, such as this forum or a coffee group.
We have one south of the river on saturdays. Today we are at the Eagan Byerlys-Caribou on NE corner of 35E and Yankee Doodle Rd. 8:30-10ish. Come and jon use. we would love to be there wih you on your journey.

Topic: MiO IdeO!!!
I haven't been too thrilled with the MiO flavors, but love the idea of something nice & portable like that. The packets are okay, but one is too much for a regular bottle of water yet not quite enough for my big water bottle.
So a little while ago, I took an empty MiO bottle, cleaned it out, poured in the 2 qt packet of Crystal Light Appletini mix, then filled the rest of the little bottle with water. Shook it up good, squirted some in my 24oz water bottle, and BADA-BING!!! Appletini!!!
I'm so gonna keep this bottle and do the same with my Raspberry Lemonade !!!

Way to go! I am at 5 months today and down 87 lbs but I would still like to lose another 40 if my body will allow it. You look fabulous and are an inspiration to all of us.

Hi everyone!
My name is Natonna and I'm so glad to be here! Just wanted to check in with my fellow Minnesotans and find out if anyone is going through Health East in Saint Paul?

Topic: 6th Month Checkup And New Goal From Surgeon!
First off. When the nurse saw me she said she couldn't believe how great I looked and then when my surgeon came in, he too said I look terrific and that I have done so well. I asked him if he thought losing 20 more pounds was unrealistic and he said for my height he thought that would make me too skinny. I kind of agreed with him. In the beginning, I wasn't sure what my goal was going to be so I had looked at the BMI chart and picked the middle to low end of normal BMI for my height but now that i've lost a lot of the weight, it makes more sense to change my goal weight. So I am happy to say that I only have 10'ish pounds left to my goal weight!!!

I don't think they consider thyroid a co-morbidity because weight loss does not resolve it. I had plenty of co-morbs pre-op - diabetes, high BP, elevated triglycerides, back pain, yada yada yada... All of those have resolved, I no longer take meds for any of them - but I'm still on levothyroxine and probably will be for life.
Check your insurance requirements, find a gap somewhere - and if you can't, although this is NOT 'good' advice, you would not be the first person to gain weight in order to qualify for WLS...

Thank you for all your advise. I had my doctor send a letter as well. I will just hang in there.
I do have 2 co-mobidies, high blood pressure and thyroid problems, but the insurance company said they only consider 1.
