CONGRATS on the 5 mile! My knees would never allow that...
As for the bad choices? We're human. You recognize what you did that you maybe shouldn't have, so forgive yourself and move on with better choices. (I need to do this myself!)
CELEBRATE that your scale still went in the right direction!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Topic: RE: Pregnancy after Duodenal Switch
I have known a couple of women who have had pregnancies post-RNY - they did struggle a bit to eat enough to be sure the baby was getting adequate nutrition. Still, both had healthy babies!
I have been hearing more lately, tho, about how DS patients do struggle with nutrition issues the further out they get. Heaven knows I'm no doctor, but I do have a dear friend who is a certified bariatric nurse clinician and knows a LOT about all the types of WLS - she says the DS carries long-term risks that other types of WLS do not (I personally can't explain why...). It seems DSers tend to believe their surgery is the best, and those that I know have been very successful with their weight loss - some have perhaps lost TOO much. I just hope the long-term issues aren't serious.
I would listen to your surgeon - having babies is not something you want to gamble with.

Yes, it is one of my favorite places and I have so many fond childhood memories there. My parents grew up in that area and it's an extended family favorite.
And, oops- we must be on the same Monday AM posting schedule. :)

Great job! Jay Cooke is beautiful, isn't it? So glad the state parks are open again.
So we must have been posting almost simultaneously, because I posted a weigh-in thread, too. I won't move mine to here, but we can just continue in yours. Thanks!

This week: Loss of 0.7 lbs. but I was down more earlier in the week.

Well, I have been so bad the last couple of days. Yesterday I ran five miles--first time ever, and I am very proud of myself --but then I let myself have permission to eat things I otherwise wouldn't. I ate a DQ mini blizzard, and movie-theater popcorn, and then this morning I ate a donut. The scale was being very kind to me until this morning.

At least the donut I ate this morning proved to me that my tool is still working--I immediately dumped on that. Foolish of me, but my DD is moving out, and we walked to the donut shop this morning. Might be the last time she and I take a morning walk for awhile, since she'll be on her own.

Good Morning, Everybody!
I had a good week- big NSV Saturday. I was at Jay Cooke state park up north visiting family, and hiked all around the trails and climbed around on the rocks by the river with my kids. It was hilly and challenging, but felt great and I got to share one of my favorite childhood memories with my own kids. Couldn't have kept up last summer.
Hit my -60 (and a bit more) today and am really loving this honeymoon period...
Starting/Highest Weight: 313
Day of Surgery: 300
Last Week: 254.6
Today: 252

Sorry we missed you--it was in Burnsville on Saturday. Next week in Eagan--can you come?
Topic: RE: Approval
This is a good question Janine. Have you tried posting this on the VSG FORUM? If not you should try. I am in NC an just happen to read yr post. I have the same INS. you have. Tried getting a direct answer from BCBS MN. could not get one. I do know they cover the BAND and the RNY. So, I will prob. go with the RNY. Good luck

I really don't know anything about this so shouldn't even be offering a comment. There's a lady on the VSG board who's about 6 1/2 months pregnant. She and baby are doing extremely well. This probably doesn't mean a thing since you only mention RNY or DS and not VSG.
Topic: Pregnancy after Duodenal Switch
I am currently going for the Gastric Bypass but have wanted the Switch instead. My surgeon said if I want children after the surgery, it will be difficult to maintain the pregnancy with the Switch due to the nutrient loss. I have not found anything online agreeing with this. Does anyone have any idea about this? Please and Thank you!!
