I have a friend contemplating weight loss surgery. However, her family isn't the most supportive :( Do you think the education session would be a good thing for them to attend? Where is it located?
Thanks!

Henry David Thoreau wrote: “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them." It is one of my favorite quotes and its underlying theme helped motivate me to look into weight loss surgery. While I certainly cannot pretend to speak for others here, I am reasonably certain that I am not alone in having reached a point in life where a person feels truly desperate to experience better physical health and greater self-acceptance.
I am now three years out from surgery and in better physical health than I ever dreamed of being after having been morbidly obese for more than two decades. My voice of unreason, that loud and nasty purveyor of viciously self-critical inner dialogue, is much quieter now. Changed cir****tances, a great deal of support, and some professional counseling have helped me to view myself in a more positive light. As much as I appreciate the current state of my physical health, though, it is relief from the desperate longing for self acceptance that I have come to value most on my WLS journey.
My purpose in making this post is to offer a message of hope to those of you out there who are still desperately seeking a path to better physical and mental health. You can find those things; but you have to work at it and that includes choosing to no longer lead a life of quiet desperation.

I am wanting so bad to get plastic surgery, breasts, arms and upper legs. I just have no idea how much something like that is going to cost. I am hoping for one surgery. I want implants too as I have a protruding breast bone and OUCH it hurts! I cannot lay on my tummy.
I began at 216 and am now 102 and 5' 1 1/2 inches. Tiny boned and my skin looks like an elephant! I keep singing the sing do you Boo** hangs low, do they wobble to and fro....I am wondering if anyone knows a cheap surgeon who is good and ABOUT how much they think this will cost? I live in Southern MN, neaar Wisc border and will have to pay cash.
Hubby wants me to not get the surgery but I look horrible and no shirt fits me, my breasts hang way down!
I believe after all I have been through, wow I could write a book about my life anyway, I deserve this! I have about 10k and will have to charge if it costs anymore.
Does anyone know a good cheap doctor in MN or WI? One that will do arms, breasts, thighs at same time?
I know, hard questions.
Thanks!
Angel
Just saw the following on Yahoo Health, thought I'd share for those of you who don't go there ~

So look through all these tips, and comment!
Me? I am really proud of the fact that I rarely drink anything but Crystal Light (or the store brand versions) these days. I have all but given up my latte's (more a financial thing than caloric, as I always got the Northern Lights version at Caribou - but STILL!), and as far as pasta is concerned, I eat very little of that anymore either. If I make spaghetti, I'll put a small forkful in the center of my plate, then bury it with meat sauce.
What DO you do, or CAN you do to shave some unnecessary calories from your daily intake?
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Great job with getting refocused on the battle we all fight everyday. This website and some friends are the best things for helping me be accountable to myself. Everyone thinks its such an easy addiction to beat, but I think it's as tough as any.
Good luck from Belle Plaine
