I have had a few stalls that have lasted about 3 weeks each.  I know i'm a "lightweight", but I think it's completely normal to stall for 3 weeks.  You've done so well.  I'm sure this is just temporary!  :)

Hi all-just another posting for the annual Gala and day of Education-it looks to be a great event.
If you visit www.allina.com and look for the Weight Loss Journey-you will find the information. Like last year, the event will be in Plymouth [Crowne Royal Hotel?]. Education starts at 10am; dinner dance at 6PM. Oh-the date: Oct 8th 2011 SAT, no snow this year [we hope].

Many thanks! Amy from Unity Hospital Bariatric Program

Okay, I just felt like laughing      Forgive me?

We're going to the State Fair on Saturday - I really don't feel the need to go this year, but my hubby wants to go, so Saturday is our only opportunity.  I plan on having a pork chop, some cheese curds, maybe try a little of the infamous sweet corn ice cream I've heard about.   Other than that, it'll be DRINK DRINK DRINK!  (although it sounds like it'll only be in the 70's Saturday - HEAVENLY!!)

My husband, after nearly 2.5 years of being unemployed/self employed, started a new job a few weeks ago (THANK YOU, GOD!!!    ).  He had to take a bit of a pay cut, but steady income is better than uncertain income, ya know?  Anyway, I took a hobby job to help supplement our finances, at a grocery store close to home.  Starting as a cashier, but they plan to move me to the Service Counter before long.  I love it!  Not sure why, but so far - I do!  I'm on my feet between 5-8 hours at a time, which is a HUGE contrast from my regular job, but ya know what?  It hasn't been a problem!  160 pounds ago, I'd have never even applied for fear my knees and I wouldn' t be able to take that - not to mention the likelihood that I wouldn't have fit in the little cubby behind the register...

So I'm uber busy these days, lovin' it, and planning to stash part of the hobby job $ in my vacation account -  'cuz I'm heading back to ***** Cana next March with my daughter and a dear friend!  YEE! FREAKIN'! HAW!!!!!

It's GOOD to have something to look forward to!!!

Topic: RE: Stalled
This is going to fly in the face of everything you've embraced about weight loss, but at 9 months out I had a pretty stubborn stall myself.  My bariatric nurse suggested I up my caloric intake just a bit - a snack, something protein based like jerky, or a hard boiled egg, maybe a chunk of cheese.  I couldn't BELIEVE she suggested such a thing, but ya know what?  IT WORKED.  It broke my stall, and I started dropping again!

Think about it - when you fast, your body tries to hold on to every calorie you have.  Well, your body has dropped a great deal of weight in a very short time, and it might just be thinking you're trying to starve it or something!  So, it's hanging on!  Give it a lil' sump'n healthy in the middle of your longest non-eating stretch (perhaps between lunch and dinner?).  It might just ease up again and start letting go of some more fat!  Try it - see what happens!

One other thought - it seems fairly common for WLS people to reach a weight, usually during their first 12-18 months, that their body is familiar with.  A weight they might have spend a fair amount of time at in the past.  Your body is familiar with that weight - it seems comfortable, it feels like hanging out there for a while.  Seriously, that happens to a lot of us.  Just ride it out, try the earlier suggestions to try to break your stall, and appreciate the fact that your body has this opportunity to adjust, to adapt, to re-set your center of gravity.  You're not done

Dave,

Stalls are completely normal.....Sometimes our bodies get used to what were doing, so we need to mix it up a little, maybe mix up your exercise routine....Add an extra walk, or bike ride, etc....
