Mary,
We're still meeting! We have a facebook page now, and it works really well to keep up with each other and ask questions between meetings. If you or your daughter (or anyone else!!) are interested in getting on our group page friend me on facebook! It's a secret group so you won't find it in search, and nothing posted on the group site will ever show up on your personal facebook page. Search for Jen Davidson Halverson, and send me a pm. It's the easiest way to hook up with the group! We alternate locations between the Eagan Byerlys and Panera Bread in Burnsville. Meetings are always at 8:30, and all are welcome! Next weekend (the 21st) will be meeting at Burnsville.

Hi Dan,
I sure hope you get this. Mary Hughes here. I have not seen you or been to group for way too long. Do you know if it is still meeting? Eagan and Burnsville? My daughter, Alison just had the sleeve done 3weeks ago and we both would like to get active with a support group. Please let me know. My email address is [email protected].
Thank you!!
Mary
Hey Diamond Girl, I haven't been on forever.
Best advise was "This is a TOOL, if you use it, it will work, if you don't it's not magic and it won't happen" also don't drink while eating! I have stuck by both things and believe it's made me successful.
I've also had many complications due to the RNY that have at times made me wish that I hadn't done it. But overall I am thrilled with my success. I am grateful for the help I've had here along the way and for the people I've met. Great people!
I am going on 4 yrs post op was 270 and weighed in at 104 this morning. Was a size 2x and am now a 2. So who am I to complain?

That sounds lovely. Is there a website with information about the program itself? Park Rapids is such a beautiful area.

Do you know......our founder, Eric Klein, created ObesityHelp back in 1998 and we've been the source of information, support and education for bariatrics since that time.
Do you know.....that ObesityHelp organized and hosted the first ever National Conference for pre-ops, post-ops, and individuals considering weight loss surgery?
Please join us as we celebrate our history with the OH community of 65 events in 26 states since 2004, and our 2013 Event on October 4-5, 2013 in Anaheim, California!!
Jenny--welcome!
Since you are in Eagan, you are very close and welcome to join us for our South of the River Weight Loss Surgery support group. Anybody is welcome to join us, of course, but you are so near, it's great.
We typically meet every Saturday morning at 8:30am. We alternate locations between the Caribou in Byerly's at Town Center in Eagan, or the Panera Bread at Burnsville Center. This week should be at Panera in Burnsville. We are very informal--it's come when you can--there's usually someone there until 10:30 or even later. We are in all different stages: some prior to surgery, some just post-surgery, some are years post. Lots of great support and information.
However, this week may be a bit sparse in attendance, because many of us are going camping at Sakatah Lake State Park. You are welcome to join us camping, if you like. We are a fun group, and very welcoming. We are leaving Friday afternoon or evening--if you even just want to come and meet us around the campfire, Sakatah Lake is only about an hour south of Eagan.
Also, we are meeting on this Thursday evening at 6pm at the Applebees in Burnsville Center, since so many of us will miss coffee on Saturday morning, and we hate missing! Some people have to work Sat mornings, etc., so we occasionally schedule a weekday meeting.
If you are on Facebook, we communicate more in a private group on there than we do on OH. I will be happy to add you to the group if you are interested and willing. Just let me know your FB username, and accept my friend request, and then I can add you to the group. Don't worry if you have not shared your surgery decision with everyone in your life--our FB group is secret and limited to people we invite.
I am happy to invite anybody who would like to join the group--just let me know your FB id and accept my friend request: it will come from Renee S. (you'll see it.)

Hi! I'm new too. I am going for vertical sleeve surgery hopefully in November...I'm doing the 6 months of required stuff for the insurance requirements right now.
Just wanted to say hi and Good Luck to you!
Hi everyone. I'm Jenny, from Eagan! I'm in the home stretch for everything and if all goes well, I'll be having my RNY in October! For the mean time, I have tons of questions about the surgery (if anyone feels like reaching out for me to ask all about your journey!) and look forward to meeting new friends as my journey continues!
