I had my surgery yesterday morning and came home last this afternoon. Everything went smoothly. I have to say, the staff at Abbott Northwestern was absolutely WONDERFUL. Great support and a caring attitude.
Feeling a bit sore, but I am sipping and resting and walking. Now starts one crazy journey. When I am feeling up to it, I will try to get down to a Saturday coffee!

Hello, I decided to go with Dr. Kelly because I have heard he has a better bedside manner and to me that is important. Dr. Kelly has done about 25 VSG surgeries and all have been very successful. I just talked to him last week and had all of the same questions you are asking now. He said the surgery takes anywhere from 45 min to 1 hour and he does the leak test as he is doing the surgery, they put air in the sleeve and test it that way with water. I am very content with this type of procedure and hearing more and more that it is a great tool! I was approved on Monday and scheduled surgery for Dec. 21st but I am hoping to change it to Dec. 14th just because it works better for me. I will keep you posted with new updates on my progress. If you have any questions please send me a message. I started this process over 1 year ago so been a while for me but I am finally here and super excited!!!
It has gotten pretty quiet on here lately. Hope that changes around again soon. This was always the best board to come to for support and answers.
You should be nervous....if you weren't then something would be wrong. Any surgery is scary. You will do great....try to not worry too much.
I wish you the very best. I will send prayers that all goes well on Thursday. Also that you have a quick and easy recovery as well.
