I see a fair number of people have read this post, but since no one has replied, I'm assuming nobody in the NW suburbs needs support...  therefore, I will be sleeping in Saturday.

If any of you who have my number care to make the effort, just let me know!

The snack monster is a tough one.  Darla is right, look for substitutions.

It's a good idea to start on moving your body now.  You will need to embrace exercise in your new lifestyle, so do what you can, even if it's just a walk around the block.  That's where I started.

By the way, you are welcome to join us at South of the River coffee group.  Tomorrow it is at the Panera in Burnsville Center at 8:30am.  Pre-surgery, post-surgery, at goal--doesn't matter where you are on the journey, you are welcome!!

Congratulations, and hang on for the ride!

Many thanks to all who were able to attend SWAPKINS in Burnsville, MN and to those who wanted to, but couldn't make it. We had a fabulous turnout.

There have been requests to have SWAPKINS outside of the Twin Cities. I'd be happy to organize a SWAPKINS anywhere within 3 hours of Bloomington, MN. All I need is your help in securing a space.

I learned that ObesityHelp and FaceBook aren't the best ways to communicate SWAPKINS updates, so I've opened a new email account: [email protected].

If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please send an email with the subject line:
I'M IN!
followed by the city and state where you live.

Share this information with anyone who might be interested in SWAPKINS. Have them email and they will be added.

Cheers! Jen

P.S. This message is only being posted to the Minnesota and Wisconsin Message Boards. Repost as you like.

Get yourself some lovely-new-to-you clothes for free? Finally part with all of those things in you closet that don't fit the way they should? The holidays are coming and this is a chance to get something to wear.

All contributions should be clean, in good condition without stains or holes. Everything will be arranged in the space by size - drop your stuff on the right size table and "shop" your size. Anything not claimed by the end of the event will be donated to charity.

I actually have Saturday off... is there anyone interested in having a Maple Grove coffee get-together?

Caribou inside Byerly's, 8:30-ish?

I'm pretty sure you just found it.  I'm not aware of one specifically for PNC patients, and I've been one for quite a while.  Just this MN board.  I know there are quite a few on Facebook, but I try to keep this seperate from that myself...

Isn't it just MIND-BLOWING that it's possible to lose 100# in under 6 months?  Without a full-time personal trainer and a tv crew following you around???

Congrats - keep it going, it just keeps getting better!

To avoid snacking urges, your best bet is to remove radios and televisions from your home.  Okay, so that's not realistic, but you'll notice that the closer you get to surgery, the more frequently they play junk food commercials.  It's as if they have a direct line to OH to see when people are about to have WLS, and they pour on the temptation!  *******s.

Make a list of things you like or need to do.  Physical activities get extra points, but anything that doesn't involve food counts.  If you want a bowl of ice cream, go for a walk.  If you want chips, clean your garage instead.  If you keep thinking about that leftover lasagne in the fridge, do some laundry and marvel at how huge your clothes are going to seem when you're SKINNY!  Just find things to distract yourself.  Don't hang out near your kitchen - if you find the majority of your time is spent there, get better aquainted with your livingroom or bedroom or any other room you have, 'cuz the closer your are to the source of your urges, the louder they become!

Good luck with everything ~ and keep coming here!  It's not the most active board these days, but there are plenty of us that 'lurk' here on a daily basis, and will be most happy to help you out with advice, perspective, and a smack upside the head when needed!

Wow. Wow. Wow!  How FABULOUS you look!  So crazy, since I see you most every week. The before and after are indeed a great picture of how far you have come. I just love seeing you on Saturdays, and am honored that I get to walk down your path with you. Keep up the most awesome work!  BTW-I have been packing 3 days of food to take with me on Monday, just so I can have the option of "mood" eating. Thanks for the great tip! (It is also very weird to see a full bag of food in the fridge. Kinda creeps me out, but by Wednesday, it's back to the bits and pieces that I am more accustomed to seeing.)

All the best,

MM
