Haven't posted in FOREVER. Such a great place here... the support was always what got me through. :) We need some BEFORES and AFTERS here!
CJ-
Absolutely! Our next meeting is this Saturday the 26th at Panera in Burnsville at 8:30 am. We welcome everyone no matter what stage you're in and are a very casual group. We sit behind the half wall to your right as you walk in. There is a long bench we usually fill up! We also have a facebook group that is secret so nothing will ever show up on our pages. We use facebook instead of OH to communicate. Search for Jen Davidson Halverson on Facebook and friend me-- I'll add you to the group. Otherwise-- I hope to see you tomorrow!
Jen.
Hi there-
I am in the middle stages of my pre-surgery process and was wondering if I could meet up with your support group? I was wondering when and where your next meeting is? Thanks!
CJ
Welcome to Minnesota, Kelly. You are invited to our South of the River Support group--in Lakeville, you are in the perfect location to join us.
We meet every Saturday morning for coffee at 8:30 am. We alternate between the Panera in Burnsville Center, and the Caribou Coffee in the Eagan Byerly's store. I can get you directions to either location. July 26th will be at Panera in Burnsville, so August 2nd will be at Caribou in Eagan.
We have members at every stage of the process, from pre-surgery to many years post-surgery. Our group is not affiliated with any hospital, surgeon or type of surgery--we welcome everyone! We also do other activities together, including runs/walks, bike rides, kid's playdates, evening dinners, camping weekends, etc. We are more active on Facebook than on OH, so if you send me your email privately, I will add you to our Facebook group. :-)
Hi Everyone,
I looking for a Minnesota support group that meets regularly. I will be moving to Lakeville, MN on the 1st of August. I am hoping someone can recommend a group? I have already had surgery last October, but currently am a part of a very active support group in Oklahoma. I am hoping to find the same in Minnesota.
Thanks in advance,
Kelly
Just start grabbing something good for u to eat and leave them carbs alone. I like celery, radishes, soybeans in the pod, and sometime just plain lettuce. Remember you still have the ability to do this, summers here get out and enjoy!
I have chronic pain that is getting really hard to deal with.... Joints ache all the time, I have seen many doctors and none have any answers. I use to take Vicodin to help sleep. Doctors said that won't help u... I managed with it for 4 years. I am so frustrated, I have tried other Druids and have side effects!
Hi Darla, I don't think we ever met, but I know we communicated on here some. I know that the South of the River coffee group has pretty much taken all discussion to Facebook. We have a private Facebook group, and it is just easier to communicate on their. If you'd like to be added to the group, PM me your email address, and I can add you.
Our SOTR group is still very active and busy. We still meet for coffee every Saturday (altho summer attendance has been down), plus some weeknight dinners, walks, runs, bike rides, camping trips, road trips, etc. If you ever get a chance, you are welcome to join us! This Saturday, July 5th, is at the Caribou Coffee in the Byerly's in Eagan Town Center at 8:30am. I won't be there, but I know that others will be.
Hi all:
If you are in the Twin Cities area, we have a very active group that meets every Saturday morning for coffee at 8:30am in either Eagan or Burnsville. The group has a private Facebook group that we use to communicate, because the OH boards used to be so slow. This week, July 2nd, the group meets at the Caribou coffee in Byerly's at Town Center in Eagan. (That's on Yankee Doodle Road and Pilot Knob.) All are welcome, whether you are pre- or post-surgery and whatever surgery type you choose.
This group is very active in other ways: if Saturday mornings don't work for you, we also have weeknight dinners occasionally, and we meet to do walks, bike rides, runs, pool parties, camping, etc. We are family-friendly, too. This Friday a number of us are running in the Red, White and Boom Half-Marathon in downtown Minneapolis. Don't worry, you don't have to be a runner to join the group, but we will talk about exercise quite a bit. :-)
If you can join us, we'd love to have you. If you'd like me to add you to the private Facebook group, just PM me your email addy. Let us know where you are located and where you are in your journey!
I also agree! Can we get this board more active? I am scheduled for surgery on July 30th, would love others to talk and connect with that are closer by.
