Hey Paul!

Remember when we moved Troy & Nic? You guys are such a fun group! I was so amazed by your success. We all think we're strong enough to overcome our own brains, but I've learned a thing or two or ten on this journey and what they said back in the pre-surgery days was "find a support system you can trust" and boy they weren't kidding were they?!

You are so right, it's all about the direction we take today! Thanks for the reminder.

I look forward to seeing you at a coffee group soon.

Hey Diamond Girl, I haven't been on forever.

Best advise was "This is a TOOL, if you use it, it will work, if you don't it's not magic and it won't happen"  also don't drink while eating!  I have stuck by both things and believe it's made me successful.

I've also had many complications due to the RNY that have at times made me wish that I hadn't done it.  But overall I am thrilled with my success.  I am grateful for the help I've had here along the way and for the people I've met.  Great people!

I am  going on 4 yrs post op was 270 and weighed in at 104 this morning.   Was a size 2x and am now a 2.  So who am I to complain?

Hey MN WLS vets, I'm stressing out on which surgery to have (RNY or sleeve). Let me know your thoughts and what you may have done differently had you known xxxx. Also wondering if you were approved by ins. In. Timely matter... Thx!

I had RnY by Dr. Chute, and I have been very happy with my decision.  It was important to me to have more reinforcement of good habits, and the RnY gives me that with dumping syndrome and malabsorption.  The sleeve is restriction-only.  If you are a self-disciplined person, you can definitely make that work, I have quite a few friends who are rocking their sleeve.  You know yourself best, and what will work for you.

I eat pretty normally now, including some sugar things.  I am probably not a person who would live without sugar or sweets for the rest of my life.  But if I eat too much sugar or fat, I definitely feel icky, so I know to stop myself before going too far--mostly.  :-)

If you are nearby, you should definitely come and talk to others at our South of the River coffee group.  We meet every Saturday morning at 8:30 am, either in Eagan or Burnsville.  This coming Saturday, October 5th, we will be in Burnsville, at the Panera in Burnsville Center.  You will know our group because we usually sit just to the right inside the door, and many of us will be sitting with water bottles in front of us.  :-)
