Hello Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone on here has had a revision with Dr.Schwartz, If so can you tell me about your experience with him, was it open or laproscopic?  Was he open to the idea of a DS or pushy about a RNY?  any other info you feel would be helpful I will also take.

Thanks everyone

So Dr. Schwartz is relativly new to DS procedures...when i had mine with Dr. leslie he was still not doing them yet really and my surgery was is march and i have only had the DS.  I would look into Dr. I or maybe Dr B at the U.  I have also herd that Schwartz can be real mean and not so nice as well, even the nurses at abbot say this about him.

before you do anything, find out how many revisions to a DS he has done.  it's a very complex surgery that should only be done by the most experienced of surgeons.  In minnesota you really should go to Dr Buchwald or Dr Ikramuddin if you are looking at revising from ? (no sure what you currently have) to a DS

Please check with the U of MN First!  Dr Buchwald or Ikramuddin.  They are experienced in Revision surgeries particularly RNY to DS or Lap Band to DS.

Schwartz does the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy with Duodenal Switch?  Since when?!?!?

Body by God; alterations by Buchwald.  I love Jesus.  I so so so appreciate my DS.

While I didn't know that Schwartz is doing DS, he is in my opinion one of the best in the country and Abbott was awesome.  Ask about success rates years later, they do some different things with the reattachment of the small intestine, wrapping in fascia, that have helped me tremendously.  Still at about a half cup food intake maximum at 8 1/2 years out and still at goal weight.  As long as I go protien first there is no possibility of overeating today.  I had Dr Chute, but was assisted by Drew and Schwartz because I was 554 lbs and they thought they all needed to be there.  I am so very greatful I went to their seminar after I had decided to go to the U.   Also ask for surgical complications from the U and Abbott.  Make your own choice, but get all the info you can....  Hope that helps a little.  Blessings and good luck.
