Support Group Recommendations
Hi Friends,
My surgeon's office does have a support group but it only meets once per month and many of the topics aren't things that initerest me. Does anyone have any recommendations for an open support group that has more meeting time options and is open to new members who may not have had surgery there? My husband and I both had our surgery at United Hospital in St. Paul but went through St. Paul Surgeons. We live in Roseville so would love to find something on this side of the metro. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there!!
I found a group on here - we are called South of the River coffee support and we meet every Saturday - this upcoming one is in Panera Bread in Burnsville Mall - the following Saturday (August 20th) will be in Caribou inside Byerly's in Eagan! And then just continues to rotate! This is a totally informal group - we get togther, talk - help each other - swap clothes!!! There are men, women, pre-op, post-op, some bring husbands/wives, children!!!! EVERYONE that I have met there has been so very supportive. We all communicate on here, and tons of us are on Facebook as well. We swap phone numbers and chat and do things together as well. I would not have made it without all these folks, they truley care and want to help any way they can and who knows better than someone that has taken the journey we are all on!!!!
Just an FYI - with Summer in full swing, the group has gotten a bit small - but there is usually someone at each one. Just look for the group that has water bottles and such in front of them and that are laughing and having a good time!!
Hope to maybe meet you - I went thru St. Paul Surgeons as well, I had Dr. Koeplin - WONDERFUL surgeon.

I am also like to go to the South of the River group, but there are many meetings sponsered by hospitals and I have attended many of them. I love the one at St Joseph , and once a quarter, I attend the SPS Wildwood meeting when they have special guests (8/16 at 7PM)
You'll have to look some of them up on the hospitals bariatric site, but they are out there.
There is one tonight at Minneapolis Abbott 5:30 educational bldg north side of the hospital campus, I am planning on being there.
