OT - Be The Match
I have posted this on my FB page, but many of you aren't friends of mine there...but are welcome to be.
I have a friend who was dx'd with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) in June of last year, and started chemo immediately. In Nov of last year received a bone marrow transplant. Been doing very well so far...2 days ago he found out that the cancer is back. Today he starts agressive chemo and facing another transplant. I've always been a huge supporter of organ donation and since last year bone marrow donation.
Be The Match is a National registry of people who are willing to donate if they become a suitable match. Not every potential donor will become a match. But hopefully everyone who needs the transplant will find their match.
I'm trying to raise some awareness about how easy it is to register to be a potential match. All you have to do is visit http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/Join_Now/join_now.html and they mail you an info kit as well the simplest cheek swab test imaginable. You mail it and and that is it.
