Looking for support and suggestions...
I had surgery January 2010 which went well. I immediately lost a large amount of weight over the first few months--I started at 305 and went down to 235. After struggling with vomiting almost daily, I went in for an endoscopy where they did a dialation. Ever since then I've pretty much been stalled with weight loss. I'm so frustrated because I really thought I'd be at my goal by now but I still have about 80 pounds to lose. I didn't go to my 1 year appointment partly because I'm humiliated about my failure and partly because I don't feel like I'd be supported at the clinic. Has anybody else struggled with this or have any suggestions on where to go from here?
I eat very little...under 800 calories a day, drink water and exercise regularly.
Thanks for any suggestions.

At your lighter weight , your body uses less calories and it is pretty much proven that even with surgery, the weight doesn't come off easily. I have actually had some weight regain as I did some stress eating and incorporated snacking in between the meals. It didn't seem like much quantity wise, but the food was high calorie (nuts, cheese)
Habits are important, so I suggest logging your intake as 800 calories a day is not a lot. So is it really 800 calories or is it an estimate. Small additions to the day really add up.
Have you considered a support group? There are those run by hospitals, coffee groups and some run by weight loss psychologists.

The best thing for you to do is go see your doctor....I know it's hard, but they will help you.....800 calories may not be enough, at 1 year out, you should be able to eat 1,000 calories and loose, especially if your working out.....You most likely are not eating enough so the body is hanging onto what it has, therefore your not loosing....
I know someone who works out and eats 1700 calories a day.....It really depends on how many calories you burn, etc....
So my advice is go see your doctor.....They can help you figure out what's going on.....Please keep us posted...
Good luck, Kelly

Kelly said much of what I was going to say....You may (probably are) eating too little...yes, hard to believe, but it is true. If you consume too few calories your body will stop and hold on to what it has.
We had different surgeons, but same clinic...please, trust me when I say, the clinic staff will be very supportive and helpful! I know this, because just yesterday I was there (3.5 yrs out) and hadn't been there in 2.5 yrs (I have been doing my annual cks with my primary). I am have gained ~9 lbs over the winter, have an ulcer, and have no excerise program....talk about being worried about what they may say!! They were extremely supportive, offered all sorts of assistance to get me back on track and healthy again!
The key truly is be completely honest with them. It was going to do me no good to lie to them about what I eat or drink or don't drink, so I put it all out there and they were very helpful!
Please make an appt with Melissa and the dietician....you won't regret it!
