Maintaining Focus

Have any of you noticed lately that when you FIRST open up obesityhelp.com, the before/after pictures are updated WAY more frequently now than they used to be?

When I first started on this journey, I spent a LOT of time building up my motivation and excitement by looking at them, and reading many of the profiles of the people that were pictured.  But it seemed the same bucket of people would be there for sometimes WEEKS.  Now it seems there are new before & afters daily!  So I'm enjoying looking at them again - can't seem to come here without scrolling through the current crop first!

I think it is helping me, 4+ years out, to keep my WLS a priority.  It's really easy to slip back into old habits, eat things I wouldn't have DARED TOUCH in that first year or so post-op.  So, I would encourage you all to check them out if you don't already.  It really does, in many ways, keep my WLS a priority.

Tomorrow morning I have to give blood for my check up next week.  And wouldn't you know, all those frickin' old 'GOD I hate going to the doctor!!!' tapes are playing in my brain!  Will my A1C be okay?  Will my doc, who I LOVE, look at me from above his glasses and tell me he can see that I seem to be eating more carbs than I should?  Or will he tell me I'm still a ROCK STAR, as he has for the past few years?

Will I ever get over that?

Darla:

No matter what, you will always be a Rock Star to those of us who have had the good fortune to meet you on our own WLS journies.  While numbers may be relevant in measuring the physical results of weight loss surgery, the thing that matters most is the hope we find for ourselves and you, Darla, have helped so many people find that hope, including me.

Take care and good luck with your appointment.
