Had my Surgical consult today

So, I had my surgical consult today with Dr. Pitts and it went great...He is so easy to talk to and straight forward but, also, has a sense of humor.. I was very relaxed and have such a great deal of confidence with him doing my surgery (hopefully pending insurance approval)..Since I have Crohn's disease and have had surgery for it, he did recommend that I have an upper GI endoscopy to make sure that everything looks good...I think if that comes back good then I can proceed with surgery...

Did anyone develop severe acid reflux with having the sleeve...That was one of his main concerns since I could not have the RNY performed due to the Crohn's..The RNY is to risky to have done because Crohn's attacks your large and small colon...messing around with that area of my GI system could cause serious problems now or in the future...if you did develop serious reflux, what did you do to correct it??

Has anyone had the sleeve and then had to convert it to the RNY due to problems...

Just some questions that popped into my head and would like some input from people who have gone through with the surgery..

I love being able to hear other peoples perspectives on how they are doing with their sleeve...Just reinforces my decision to have it done...

Thanks

My doc predicted I'd have really bad GERD after surgery because I had it before. But, no. He fixed an unknown hiatal hernia while doing my sleeve. Now I'm off my reflux meds. Very occasionally I'll take a pill but less and less the farther out from surgery I get.

About having an endoscopy, if you haven't had one before, don't worry about it. It's a piece of cake and it's over before you even know they put you out.

I don't think that I have acid reflux but he just wants to be sure..Every now and again (rarely) if I eat something greasy, I might get a little reflux, but otherwise I have no problem...

I have not had an endoscopy, but from what I read it is no big deal...As long as they give me plenty of "forget me not" drugs, I really won't care....
