Most people like the Unjury brand. I ended up getting Champion and Dymatize on www.supplimentwarehouse.com. I liked the flavored stuff like sour apple, banana scream, orange dreamsicle etc. I ended up having quite a change in my tastes since surgery, so I had to add some green or red hot sauce to make the shakes flavorful enough to satisfy.

I use Jay Robb protein powder or It's About TIme. Love both of these! Have tried MANY! Throw this in my Vita-mix with some greek yogurt - handful of frozen fruit and some ice and water and mmmmmmmm!

Had VSG on Jan 6, 2011 with Dr. Jaime Ramos-Kelly

I like Optimum pro powder. It mixes really well and isn't as sweet as some others.I think you can buy it at GNC, but I get it at vitaminshoppe.com with low cost shipping. I make a smoothie with banana flavored pro powder, greek yogurt, some non fat milk and a handful of frozen berries. YUM! I also like Unjury, especially the chicken broth flavor.

You can puree anything. I did canned fruit [peaches and pears], acorn squash... I even pureed chicken. Gotta put in enough water though so you don't get 'chunks'!

Funny, how this experience is so different for everyone! I had terrible luck pureeing chicken...even with extra water...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE purees canned pears...better than applesauce!

I am not a fan of protien powder drinks.......tried so many. Its the taste and texture. I found not to use a blender but a mixer cup available at GNC was the best way for me...less bubbles and thickness.  I eat the yogurt and fruit...and swallow the protien powder drink like medicine.......laughing!! I have tried masking with flavorings...fruit...even no sugar added icecream to no luck. The protien powder I like best is called Pure Protien...available from target and walmart...the Pure Protien bars...are fabulous delicious and only 2 carbs with 20 g of protien. The bars are also available at Sams club....hope this  helps...I have talked to quite a few folks who cannot tolerate the protien powder drinks.
Dont dispare if you are one of those....try some out and get sample packs whenever possible. GNC also has a return policy that I have used with success..good luck!!  bev

The Magic Bullet is phenomenal!  I can't imagine life without mine.  It's perfect for single serving protein shakes - or whizzing up foods in the pureed stage.

Have you checked out Eggface's blogspot yet?  She has a TON of recipes for newbies and old timers alike.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

Dr. Benn gave me an incredible tool.. and I intend to make the most out of it!!
