What to Take to the Hospital?

I on the 1 week countdown to surgery. I had my per-surgery class this morning. They said to not bring anything with me to the hospital - not even a suitcase. But but but... what about my computer? I use it a lot. And, since I'm not much of a TV watcher I thought I could stream Netflix or bring a movie or 2 to watch. I'm not going to spend tons of time on the computer but I might want to entertain myself. With a VSG I'll be there 3 nights so I'd like to have something to do. It is silly to take my computer? Or will I be so out of it I won't know if it's morning or night?

I ended up in the hospital for 3 nights.  I brought my laptop.  The first night I was not up to do anything but I did use it off and on after that.  The other things you might want to consider is to wear a comfortable outfit that you can go to the hospital in and go home in.  Bring a pillow for the ride home and bring some chapstick.  Other than that, the hospital pretty much provides everything else.  Good luck on your upcoming surgery.  See you very soon on the losers bench!

Your medications list just in case.  Glasses case if you wear them.  Slip on slippers for walking the halls and perhaps a bathrobe.

 The very best of luck!

I needed to bring my living will because I updated it before surgery.

I also found myself comforted by a small plush toy and I DID take my computer but I was so out of it I hardly used it.

Slipper socks for walking the hallways.
Earplugs because hospitals are the noisiest place to sleep.

I just got out of the hospital on Wednesday and chapstick is what I needed the most. I also wish that I brought my own shampoo and conditioner. When I was finally able to shower, the hospital only had baby shampoo. I never used my laptop, and slept more than I thought that I would.
