Lactose Intolerant
When the nurse cleared me for milk a couple weeks after my surgery...it made me really nauseous and icky feeling. So I started buying Lactose-free milk.
Does anyone else have this issue? Im sitting here having a 6oz yogurt but my tummy is complaining a bit. It has a kind of sharp pain but no nausea. This has ONLY been since surgery..I LOVE yogurt.
Any suggestions? I NEED the protein badly but the milk is the only lactose-free option I know of and Im not a big milk lover

I have severe lactose intolerance, and this started long before surgery. I personally drink soy/coconut milk because the "Lactose-free" milk really just has lactaid added to it. I am so sensitive to lactose, that even the "Lactose-free" milk gives me severe vomiting/cramping/diarrhea.
You can also get soy yogurt, but it's not fat free. Try taking lactaid pills before eating cheese/yogurt, and see if this helps. There is soy cheese out there, but to be honest, it's horrible.
I also make soy pudding ( take a sugar-free pudding, and add half the required soy milk - 1 cup). It's not as low in calories as regular sugar-free pudding, but it gets you protein/calcium without pain.
Soy milk has exactly the same amount of protein as regular milk!
Good luck!
