Had pre op physical today!
Well it is all hitting me as a reality! I had the pre op today, complete with blood work and an EKG. WOW! I also realized I have lost 15 pounds since I started this process in July 2010. Got all the medicataion stuff settled yesterday with the pharmacist. Surgery (gastric banding) is scheduled for Monday morning Feb 28. I am feeling all sorts of emotions, which I have been told is normal. I appreciate the opportunity to use OH to get questions answered and to read other folk' experiences. God bless !
Yep, pre-surgery gitters are not only normal, but expected. For most people, (in retrospect) the surgery is the easy part. Getting a hold on your new lifestyle becomes the challenge. All I can say is if done well, it is SO!!! worth it.
Strive towards health by being compliant to the Dr's instructions. Try and let go of the fears of failure (Oh by the way, the last time I was fearful of that was about two days ago.) And just forge on doing what is smart. It really is not a sacrifece, it is a blessing to have a real life.
Welcome to the losers bench.

Congrats Kim ...we here on OH hope you the best. I started my journey back in December, so some of the people here call me a newbie ...but it has been quite a ride, I feel like I am old hand at it now and next Tuesday will only be 8 weeks postop!! I was surprised at my pre-op to find I had lost 22 lbs -even one of the nurses the day of surgery asked why I was still going through with it. But, like for many that don't struggle with weight, she had no clue as to the CONSTANT struggle I have had since I was about 12 years old!!!! It is all behind me now. Even though I am new at this and still stuggling ...its a fight I am willing to take on for the rest of my life! Good Luck!
