DS and ulcers

I had a RNY revision (another RNY) due to an ulcer that wouldn't heal 1.5 years ago. I believe I now have another ulcer. I'm getting an endoscopy next week to confirm it. What I want to know if people that have the DS get ulcers too? I don't take NSAIDS - EVER. I don't drink alcohol - EVER. I don't understand how I can keep getting ulcers? I've had 3 in 5 years post op.

Do you drink coffee? I've heard that it causes ulcers....

I drink 1 cup a day. I didn't know it causes ulcers!

Seriously? Dang, thought this was all behind you! Darn.

One cup of coffee should not cause you ulcers like you've had, Farrah. Think of all the other RNY'ers who drink multiple coffee drinks per day, not to mention the alcohol addicts out there, too. So, you're one cup is like water in comparison IMO.

And to answer your question, no we DS'ers do not. Remember we do not have the man-made pouch like you do which has no natural stomach acid in it to aide in breaking down your food. We still have 1/2 our normal stomach with the acid and all to break down what we eat.

Are you coming to MN to see Dr. Buchwald? Or did you find a DS revision surgeon in FL? The DS board can probably help you out with a FL recommendation if you need one.
