Hello everyone! My name is Angela I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to thank all of you for your great posts.  I'm just starting out on this journey, but so many questions and anxieties have been put to rest just by reading through the messages.  Y'all are a wonderful resource!

Although I initially started out with Dr. Glass in Sartell, I'll be going to Dr. Baker in Fridley (I think that's where he is) because of insurance.  I'm on Tricare Prime (my husband is a retiree) and hopefully I can get the surgery approved without much of a hassle.  About ten years ago I tried to have RNY, but Tricare turned me down.  That was such a blow that I didn't even try to appeal--not this time! I turned 40 last month and am determined not to hit 41 and still be struggling to pick things off the floor :)

I'm going to the initial seminar this Saturday, so I'm hoping and wishing and praying that the everything can get rolling soon.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the future, but I just wanted to stop and introduce myself :) Have a great evening!

You will love the Bariatric Center at Unity.  They are so caring and keep you informed every step of the way.  The nurses are great, and they will always answer questions.
I loved my doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome--especially in this cold weather!  This is my first MN winter and I'm not too crazy about it so far.

I went to the info session last Saturday at Unity and have my first appointment with the nurse tomorrow (Feb 8).  I've got my health history, letters of need from my PCM and myself, and insurance guidelines, which I think I meet.

Perhaps what I'm looking forward to the most, though, is starting the pre-surgery diet.  I'm sitting at what's close to my highest weight and y'all know how uncomfortable that is.  I haven't been as careful as I usually am when it comes to food simply because the higher weight will help with insurance approval, but I'm ready to eat clean now :)
