Does anyone know if the kashi cereal with 13g is on the ok to eat list?  I haven't had problems with any foods so far 3 weeks out is this normal?  I do stay with in the portion sizes given to me by the Dr and completely avoid sugar, pop, and alcohol.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave.....the only thing I use Kashi Go Lean for is I put it in with my yogurt for added fiber and protein.

My doctor doesn't want  us to use milk so I don't eat cereal that way. Have eaten a bit for a snack now and then.

Hope someone else has a better answer for you.

I am curious Connie, why "no milk" ? I use it everyday in my protein drink....plus there are 6-8 gr. of protein in milk.  I thought was a good source.

Ask you NUT, cereal may be too hard/solid for only 3 weeks out.

It is normal not to have problems- I am almost 5 years out and I have not have any complications.
I have never thrown up and don't really know much about "dumping".  I do know that the ONLY  time
I was really, really sick, on the toilet and thought I was going to die....was when I had a 1/2 cup of cereal with milk.......... at about one year out.

I have never had milk since.  I ocassionally eat oatmeal made with milk and I do eat Kashi Go-Lean cereal with yogurt.

My clinic limits carbs so cereal wasn't on the list.  I think we got Wheat Thins at 4-6 months.
I caution you to not try cereal without talking to your clinic's nutrionist or looking at your approved food list.

It is best to go slow.  I have never had pop, sugar & alcohol was 1+ year out. I think that right after surgery you miss the foods you loved (the ones that made you fat) You go through a mouring period which is going to last for awhile. Once your body gets use to the limited food you will stop dreaming of the stuff you shouldn't be eating yet.  Good luck!!
