Hi there, my name is Jody, I never realized that there was a forum like this out there. I am not new to this surgery infact I am likley one of the first to have had this surgery on the board. My 1st was @ the UofM in 1976 @ the age of 18 then I had a 2nd @ Mercy Hospital in 1981. So you may ask then why am I here now? Well I am in search of a revision, I have went up and down the scale 198 to 280. At present I am 260 or so. I am so tired of all of this; meaning diet's of all kind's then maintaining for a year or more then back up I go. Problem is that I have many medical issues I am on several med's and supplaments. I have a intrthecal pain pump. Many of the med,s I've been on of cource cause weight gain. All of this along with major depresive disorder, I just can not get ahead. So I stumbled upon this and thought that it might be my answer. This type of support was never availible at the time I had my 1st surgeries. So here I am Gals, can I come and play with you?
Not sure why you're deactivated, but if you check the board...here's my two cents.
I would HIGHLY recommend you doing lots of research this time around since you're a third potential revision, which I am curious to know if ANY bariatric surgeon has ever done. Hmmm...that would be really interesting to know. Plenty of revisions out there but not sure I've ever seen a "double" revision.
Dr. Henry Buchwald is a pioneer in bariatric surgeries and about your last hope. He is usually the only surgeon in MN skilled enough to take down previous bariatric surgeries. And he will be honest with you as to whether or not it can even be done given all your history.
He works at the UofM Fairview. If you need his contact info, you should be able to Google it or send me a message on here and I'll get it to you.
Good luck.
