I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Benn on Monday, February 21st. Cannot believe that it is finally going to happen! Does anyone have any suggestions for travel food that I can pack with me? I travel quite a bit for business and my first trip will be three weeks after my surgery. Thanks!

It might be a bit early for this, but I started on beef or turkey Jerky pretty early on after I was cleared for solids. It takes a long time to chew, keeps you feeling full ( and thus not empty feeling or deprived.) and is really high in protein.

Carnation Instant breakfast makes a premixed drink that does not need to be refrigerated.  I have an insulated lunch bag with the froozen " blue blocks" so I take yogurt to work often.  I have also brouhgt  lunch meats, cheese, tuna  or cottage cheese.  You could take most hot foods in a thermos.   You could take refied beans or chili.  Protien bars are another possiblity.    Don't forget your water. Good luck on your surg.

If you fly you'll have different restrictions on what you can bring with you as far as carry-on. Remember the 3 oz. rule. That will rule out the blue freezer bags.

Try string cheese and protein bars. Also great is protein powder. Re-package it into some kind of leak proof/spill proof tupperware type container. You can always buy water to mix it. Or tuna. Or pop-top cans of soup. You can sort of heat the soup in the hotel coffee maker carafe. I don't know if dried fruit is on your safe to eat list. If it is, it's easy to travel with. It's really hard to pack enough food when you travel. You need stuff that doesn't need to be refrigerated, or cooked or heated. And it all gets heavy.

If you travel by car, it's a whole different thing. Easier.

I found that the Cambell's Tomato soup 'on the go' I believe it is called, was the best for me.  Could not get a whole can drank but it did re-heat pretty good.  I also could not and still can't stand protein powders after surgery, before surgery they were GREAT!!  I think in the beginning it will be some trial and error and don't be afraid to ask if dining out for the food the way you think your tummy will handle it.  I have asked for such weird combinations when eating out that I'm sure I was the talk of the place for the night!!  Good luck!
