Hi Marsha...I know if I want to lose I have to keep it between 1000 and 1100 calories a day.
As far as carbs....as long as they are complex carbs that is good....don't know the exact amount....I just go with my 1000 calories and fit them in as I can...protein first and always at least 80 grams.
Sure doesn't take long to get to 1000 calories in a day!!!!
Good luck....love you always....hugs....connie d

Hey Sarsha,
I track all my calories and carbohydrates at www.livestrong.com/myplate It's very simple, all you have to do is type in what you ate then select the brand or type from a drop down list and put in the quantity. This is very helpful for me to see what I'm eating and how it effects my mood, my cravings, my energy levels.
I expect the exact calorie and carb count for an individual to lose or to maintain will be slightly different. Right now I am maintaining my current weight on about 1400 calories a day, but I am pretty tall and only about 18 months post surgery. I, like Connie, shoot for at the very minimum 80g protein a day and I try to keep my carbs below 100, though I never limit my vegetable intake.
Sometimes I find I am really hungry for the wrong kind of foods like sweets and white flour treats and whenever that happens I have a couple REALLY high protein/low carb day and the cravings go away.
Here are some things I eat a lot of that are very high protein and low in carbs:
Greek yogurt (Fage 0% can be found for a very reasonable price at costco and I mix mine up with a TBSP of SF pudding mix)
Cottage Cheese
Fish, fresh or canned
Chicken
Buffalo meat
Beef
Edamame
low-fat (or regular) cheese sticks or the baby bel cheese rounds
Sliced turkey or roast beef
Eggs (if you want to cut calories too most of the protein is in the white and the whites only have approximately 16 calories each)
Tofu
Soy Milk
Milk
Turkey bacon (or regular bacon, turkey bacon is just lower in calories)
Pure Protein bars (high in protein low in carbohydrates, the best stats on a protein bar I've seen and they come in a few flavors)
High in protein (but also high in fat)
Almonds
Peanut butter
Peanuts
Cashews
Pumpkin seeds
These are high in protein but have complex carbs in them as well:
Quinoa
Lentils
Beans
Chickpeas
Split peas
If you really like cereal Target sells a house brand high protein cereal that has awesome protein numbers and low carbohydrates (for a cereal) It's called, Market Pantry High Protein Cinnamon.
