Day 2 of 14 - liquid diet

Day 1 is done!
I made sure that I drank my protein shake before I got hungry. I also made sure that I had plenty of other liquids. I'm drinking the bariatric advantage and it's not that bad. It for sure fills me up and stops hunger quicker then any meal. I feel that it is easier now that I'm at work because I stay busy all day, not looking forward to the weekend, I guess I have to make myself busy so I don't sit around watching food commercials.

Any thing I should buy to have ready at home when I return from the hospital. I know I read something about bad gas pain.

Good for you....just go one day at a time with the liqiuds..the time will go by quickly!!

Just be sure you have all your required vitamins, calcium etc available..Lots of water....I use Crystal Light in my water. There are so many flavors out thereto choose from.

Take a pillow with you for the ride home to hold against your tummy....lots of bumps in the road....helps with coughing too.

Good luck....hugs....connie d

The gas pain you should be able to walk off.....With the RNY lap, they fill you up with air, so that's why the gas pains....

Follow what Dr, Glass recommends, every plan is different...

Your new stomach can only hold 2 Tablespoons, so keep that in mind....

For me I was on a LD for the 1st 3 weeks, not sure what Dr. Glass has his patients do....I had, Broth, SF drink mixes in my water, fruit juice diluted half water 1/2 juice but be careful as some people dump, SF jello, skim milk or soy milk, herbal decaf tea, SF popscicles, strained chicken noodle soup....You should set a timer for every 5 min. to remind yourself to take a drink of water, until you have it down pat...Do not use a straw, it just builds up gas....At around the 10th day I added diet V8 and tomato juice, tomato soup, low fat cream soups. And of course my protein powder for shakes, I like UNJURY unflavored and CHIKE orange cream, banana magic, choc, vanilla....You can go online to chikenutrition.com and get free samples..

I have a ton of protein shake recipes if your interested....

Good luck, Kelly

I started using a dash of habenero sauce in my protein drinks to add a bit of kick. I found after surgery that my tastes and tolerance to hot sauce changed dramatically. I bought some "chicken buffalo rings" at White Castle and thought they were only colored orange without added flavor, but my wife thought they were plenty hot.
Hang in there. By the time I was post surgery, I got used t the protein drinks and actually wanted to keep on that path because I was losing so successfully. However, a week out, my nutritionist insisted it was time to progress into the challenge (and I do mean challenge) of learning to eat real food with the new pouch.

I am proud of you!  I don't have any advice for you because everyone pretty much covered what I was going to say.  Good luck, it will go fast!

Everyone goes through it--you will find yourself grieving for food--it has been a good friend to you for a long time, and you are going to have to say goodbye to it.

As time passes you will find other things to fill the gap--it is important to make sure that those are healthy things!  Think about how much better it will be for your kids if you are cooking healthy food, and if you are able to keep up with them in all their activities!

I wish I had done this long ago, when my kids were little.  I spent so much time sitting on the sidelines watching them do stuff, when I could've done it with them if I was thinner.  Oh well, I've done it now and no regrets!

congratulations getting past day 1! I start my liquid diet on Valentine's Day. But I havea question. I was wondering when I start taking the chewable vitamins and stuff and breaking or crushing my pills? At the same time as I start the liquid diet or after the surgery itself which is on Feb 28? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
