I'm home!
I finally made it! I had some breathing issues for about the first 24 hours and then was plagued by massive headaches Saturday and Sunday night. I won't lie, when I first got out of surgery and woke up, I was in some pretty extreme pain but they got that under control pretty quick for me. The nurses and doctors were terrific! Other than that everything went great! I was told the actual surgery went so textbook that they recorded it and that I was a star patient. I had bowel issues and the headaches both kept me in the hospital an extra day but made it home today. I am so glad to be home! I have been plugging away at sip, sip, sipping and move, move, moving. I am feeling a bit emotional today and I am chalking it up to everything just overwhelming me at the moment. Every day is getting a little bit better. Thanks so much for all your advice and I look forward to our continued successes.

Hi Jessy:
WLS surgery in itself is very emotional, but keep in mind that almost any surgery has a hormonal effect that makes us a bit emotional. Be sure to talk to your support people about this, as they play a huge role in emotional stress releated reactions. My husband and daughter have been my rock and continue to, even though I sometimes become an emotional wreck which leads to a not so nice wife or mom. Good luck and remember your WLS peeps are here for you! Hugs - Lisa

Good job being "textbook" - you probably have been doing all they tell you to do. Keep doing that, and you'll be on the healing/healed side of things in no time. Take care and good luck with this exciting next phase of your life!

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench! The emotional part is very normal--you are losing weight, and the fat contains hormones that will send you over the edge once in awhile. Plus you have made major changes to your body, and that's new. It will get better and trust me, you will be very glad you did this!
